Ralph Barton (August 14, 1891 – May 19, 1931) was an American artist best known for his cartoons and caricatures of actors and other celebrities. Though his work was heavily in demand through the 1920s and is often considered to epitomize the era, his personal life was troubled by mental illness, and he was nearly forgotten soon after his suicide, shortly before his fortieth birthday.
Early life
Ralph Waldo Emerson Barton was the youngest of four children born to Abraham Pool and Catherine Barton. His father was an attorney by profession, but around the time of Ralph's birth made a career change to publish journals on metaphysics. His mother, an accomplished portrait painter, ran an art studio. The young Barton showed his mother's aptitude for art, and by the time he was in his mid-teens he had already seen several of his cartoons and illustrations published in The Kansas City Star and the Kansas City Journal-Post. Buoyed by this success, in 1908 Ralph Barton dropped out of Kansas City's Westport High School before graduating. He moved to Chicago in 1909 to attend the Art Institute of Chicago, but soon found he didn't "like Chicago or Chicago people and worst of all the art institute. I could learn twice as much at work" he confided in a letter to his mother. Returning to Kansas City within a matter of months, he married his first of four wives, Marie Jennings.
"The Glamorous Life" is a song written by Prince and recorded by singer/percussionistSheila E. The song has lyrics which reflect a cynicism for the decadence and materialism of the song's protagonist, referred to in the third person, who "wants to lead a glamorous life", although she is aware that "without love, it ain't much".
Song history
"The Glamorous Life" is the title track and closing song on Sheila E.'s debut solo album, and reached number 7 on the U.S. pop charts, as well as number 1 on the U.S. dance charts, and earned two Grammy Award nominations and three MTV Award nominations.
Sheila E.'s live performances of the song became memorable events, most notably for her percussion solo towards the end of the song. Depending on the occasion, she would either spin around several times while drumming without missing a beat during the rigorous solo, place one highly elevated foot on a snare while standing on the other leg mid-solo, or perform with glow-in-the-dark drumsticks. While the solo featured in the song helped to bolster Sheila E.'s fame, all subsequent versions of this song have no drum solo. She performed this song as part of Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band during their 2001, 2003 and 2006 tours.
The Glamorous Life (full title Sheila E. in The Glamorous Life) is the debut album from singer/drummer/percussionist Sheila E.. The title track hit the U.S. top ten and her second single, "The Belle of St. Mark" charted in the U.S., UK, Ireland, Netherlands, and New Zealand.
Susan sells off her share in the strip club, and encourages Robin, a stripper with an Education degree, to quit and find another job. She tries to get her a job at the school, but a father recognizes her from the club and informs Principal Hobson, who fires her. Susan then convinces Mike to let Robin stay with them for a while.
Bree is alarmed to find the men of the neighborhood going through Orson's personal belongings, as he has told them they can have whatever they want. Orson informs Bree that he has decided to end his own life. Bree tries to stop Orson, by placing him on suicide watch, but he tells her that sooner or later he will find a way. Orson says he has no reason to live. He asks Bree if she loves him, but she cannot answer. He says that if she loved him again, he'd have a reason to live. Bree then tells Orson that she wants to love him again, but that's only possible if he is around.
Catfishing the susquehanna River with strawberry jello covered chicken
Today i was fishing a new spot on the susquehanna river for catfish. I was running low on cut bait so made up some garlic and strawberry jello chickem breast to use. The action was pretty slow but i did manage to catch a couple catfish. I also tested out my new mic and the audio seems to be much better .I was using a slip sinker rig with a 2 ounce no roll sinker and 5/0 circle hook
