The Elephant Ride (Squeeze cover) Zeus Henderson & the Narçoleptic Sömnambulists
Zzzzeus Henderson & the Narçoleptic Sömnambulists are:
David Henderson - lead vocal, bass
Bob Fenster - harmony vocals
Keith Klingensmith - harmony vocals
Torbjörn Petersson - acoustic and electric guitars
Joe Scinta - drums, dog whisperer
Bill Shaouy - keyboards
"We'll be sleeping through the day as the world around us turns..."
A cover of my fave Squeeze song of the past 30+ years, a melancholic journey into Brian Wilson territory. Once again, our heroes (Squeeze, that is) sound like they've played too long, smoked too much and shouldn't have downed that last pint. Thankfully, it lead to one of the most beautiful non-Brian Wilson songs I've ever heard.
Recorded for the Theme Music facebook group, May 2015.

Elephant Ride - Squeeze - Difford -Tilbrook
Its impossible to pick my favourite squeeze song but this one is definitely in the top 5. Its the perfect example of the influence of McCartney on his songwriting although Glenn credits Brian Wilson as the original influence. The tune is just delicious, the chords meander through your consciousness and its impossible not to be transported by the intoxicating lyric. It's just a privilege to be able to play and sing this.

(Difford/Tilbrook) Today is none of our concern That rewarding cigarette That burns slowly by the bed Fills the room with mystery The apple ripens on the tree That protected seal of love Broken by the flame of fun Lying back with Exodus In the arms of lovers trust That romantic dance of light From the curtain broken night Shadows fall on mystery Love has ripened here for me Stubbing out the cigarette I see the clothes beside the bed As the half light of the day Pulls the sheet up once again As the phone hangs by the cord As the streets begin to fill There's no distance anymore There's no wanting when you will Will be sleeping through the day As the world around us turns As the phone hangs by the cord Today is none of our concern
