Wikipedia User Access Levels and Groups (Wikipedia Basics)
Wikipedia has a hierarchy system for managing editors, editing permissions and page protection. Page protection limits editing to editor who are members of specific groups.
Editors are placed into one of six different groups, each with their own editing permissions and tools. You can advance based on your editing history and community engagement in talk pages. Advancement to the top user group is extremely rare.
The first group "new user" is how readers, IP users, and newly registered users are grouped. Only the most basic editing tools are available. Once a simple editing history has been established, then the user is automatically entered into the "autoconfirmed" user group. This allows access to most of the editing tools you need to edit. Snøhetta to work with Wikipedia community on new brand identity
Snøhetta has teamed up with the Wikimedia Foundation to develop a new visual identity for its global organisation that will be generated in partnership with volunteers from around the world.
The nonprofit organisation that operates Wikipedia asked Norwegian design and architecture firm Snøhetta to help it create a branding system, that supports Wikimedia's stated objective of "setting knowledge free".
The foundation's owners were concerned that the existing Wikimedia name and branding is not known or understood by many people, which is having a negative impact on its potential for expansion.
By shifting the focus of the brand onto the much more familiar Wikipedia name, the organisation is hoping to simplify the way it presents its projects and purpose to volunteers, partners and donors....

TEDxSoMa - Steven Walling - How a Global Community Keeps Wikipedia Alive
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

The final three levels, administrator, bureaucrat and steward require nomination, demonstration of editing and communication skills, and a Wikipedia community vote to be entered into one of these access groups.
In addition to the user groups, there are extra permissions that can be granted to a user by the community if the editor requests it or is nominated for the permission and then approved by the community.

Using Wikipedia: Crash Course Navigating Digital Information #5
Let's talk about Wikipedia. Wikipedia is often maligned by teachers and twitter trolls alike as an unreliable source. And yes, it does sometimes have major errors and omissions, but Wikipedia is also the Internet's largest general reference work and as such an incredibly powerful tool. Today we'll discuss using Wikipedia for good - to help us get a birds-eye view of content, better evaluate information with lateral reading, and find trustworthy primary sources.

Wikipedia Donations Exposed. The Truth.
Lock In 7% With Government Bonds:
https://www.silomarkets.com/logic/
I’m sure you’ve all seen the Wikipedia pop-up asking for donations. At first glance, the request seems like a humble ask to keep the community-oriented website up and running. But, many would argue that this pop-up is not only extremely misleading but highly unethical. Even Wikipedia’s own ex-outreach officer says that he is ashamed of Wikipedia’s fundraising tactics. Why you ask? Well, the simple truth is that Wikipedia itself is not actually all that dependent on donations. In fact, according to Wikipedia’s own founder, Jimmy Wales, Wikipedia can be run for just $5,000 per month. He made that statement a while ago, but even accounting for inflation and more traffic, the cost to keep up Wikipedia is extremely minimal. A...

Wikipedia Plays Pokemon (Round 3, with new code)
I made a program that downloads a random Wikipedia article, makes it somewhat readable and then tries to play Pokemon.
It takes the first letter of each word and then presses buttons accordingly. I tried to make it somewhat balanced so 80% of the button presses are movement, 15% is "A" button, 4% is "B" and final 1% is start. These obviously vary from article to article but that is roughly the average.
Had to reset the run because I have no idea how far back the save file is and I think this bot could do better with different starter.
This is heavily inspired by Twitch Plays Pokemon back in the day and Pi Plays Pokemon and bunch of other streamers/content creators as well.
Let's see how this goes!

As such, the vast majority of your donations actually end up going to efforts outside Wikipedia that you’re probably not even familiar with like grants and other Wiki products. This video explains the controversy surrounding Wikipedia donations and why their fundraising effort may not be as wholesome as think.
