Founded as The Christians, the party was formed when the Christian Democratic Party abolished its requirement that its representatives profess the Christian faith. The party saw this as a major step in the "de-Christianization" of the party, along with a perceived wider de-Christianization of Norway during the years of the Red–Green government.
The party participated in its first election for the 2011 local elections limited to the municipal council in Bømlo. They won 6.5% of the votes there, earning them two seats. Bømlo was selected to test support for the new party, with defected local Christian Democratic politicians heading their list. Some saw the party's founding meeting on Moster in Bømlo as symbolic, as it was the original starting point of the Christianization of Norway by King Olaf Tryggvason a thousand years ago.
The Christian Party of Austria (German:Christliche Partei Österreichs, CPÖ; formerly the Christians – German:Die Christen) is a minor political party in Austria, founded on 15 October 2005.
It changed its name under its new chairman Rudolf Gehring in late 2009, partially due to concerns by the Catholic Church over the use of the term "Christians" to mean only the party.
History
The party was registered on 23 January 2006 and presented to the public on 27 September 2007, when it announced a popular initiative ("Volksbegehren") on the topic of children and families and that it would contest the 2008 election in Lower Austria.
Rudolf Gehring, the party's chairman, announced he would run for president in the 2010 election. He received 5.44% of the vote for a third place, which represents the party's highest vote in a national election to date.
Program
The party is oriented mainly on Christian politics, advocating, for example:

The Christians - What's In A Word (2013 SiX DwArF remastered promo of album version HQ stereo )
There incredibly isn't a video of The Christians' amazing 1992 hit What's in a Word on You Tube that has been properly sync-ed, in high quality and with stereo. And none involving the whole album version. So here's a SiX DwArF re-vamp for those like me who think this is a cardinal sin.
You can draw comparisons to a perhaps more politically-charged Temptations.
Contrary to some belief, The Christians are not religious zealots. They are a pop-soul musical ensemble from Liverpool, England, who had several UK and international chart hits in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The name of the band refers to the surname of the three brothers that were originally in the line-up, and is also coincidentally guitarist Henry Priestman's middle name.
