The Bitter End is a 230-person capacity nightclub, coffeehouse and folk music venue in New York City's Greenwich Village. It opened its doors in 1961 at 147 Bleecker Street under the auspices of owner Fred Weintraub. The club changed its name to The Other End in June 1975. However, after a few years the owners changed the club's name back to the more recognizable Bitter End.
History
An earlier club, "The Cock and Bull" operated on the same premises with the same format, in the late 1950s. The poet/comedian Hugh Romney (who later became known as Wavy Gravy) read there.
During the early 1960s the club hosted Folk music "hootenannies" every Tuesday night, featuring many performers who have since become legendary. During its heyday the Bitter End showcased a wide range of talented and legendary musicians, comedians, and theatrical performers.
In 1968 Paul Colby (1917–2014), who began his career as a song plugger for Benny Goodman’s publishing company, and went on to work for Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, and Guy Lombardo, became the manager and booking agent at The Bitter End, and in 1974 he purchased it.
The Bitter End is the first release from Andy Hull's solo project, Right Away, Great Captain. The album was recorded in 3 days near Bastian, VA in August 2006. It is a concept record focusing on a 17th-century sailor at sea for 3 years, each song being a journal entry to his family at home or his captain.

The Bitter End is the album by the American synthpop band Red Flag. It was released in 2002 by their own label, Plan B Records. 11 original songs of love, life, loss and reality, all in classic Red Flag fashion.
Bitter End was the second single released off 'Love/Hate' on 8 October 2007 by Manchester band Nine Black Alps.
Song
The song shows a very different side to Nine Black Alps. The song is driven by an acoustic guitar rather than the loud, distorted guitars that were so frequently used on their debut Everything Is.
Video
The video was shot in Wimbledon and shows the band playing the song. There are also clips of teenagers who appear to live in the woods doing different activities throughout the video. The video was also a nominee for Best telecine in a video in the UK Music Video Awards which took place in London's West EndOdeon.
"Bitter End" first appeared in book form in the posthumous limited-edition collection Corsage: A Bouquet of Rex Stout and Nero Wolfe edited by Michael Bourne, published in 1977 by James A. Rock & Co., Publishers. It subsequently appeared in Death Times Three, published by Bantam Books in 1985.
"To Stout's surprise," wrote biographer John McAleer, "Sumner Blossom, publisher of The American Magazine, refused to pursue the Fox piece but offered Stout double payment if he would convert the story into a Wolfe novella. To Blossom's surprise, and maybe his own, Rex effected the transformation in eleven days. As he explained to me later, by then he had already become deeply committed to the war against Hitler and needed the money."
The Bitter End is taken from the album, Sleeping with Ghosts.

The Bitter End lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Since we're feeling so anaesthetised
In our comfort zone
Reminds me of the second time
That I followed you home
We're running out of alibis
On the second of May
Reminds me of the summertime
On this winter's day
[Chorus]
See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end
[Verse 2]
Every step we take that's synchronised
Every broken bone
Reminds me of the second time
That I followed you home
You shower me with lullabies
As you're walking away
Reminds me that it's killing time
On this fateful day
[Chorus]
See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end
[Outro]
From the time we intercepted
Feels a lot like suicide
Slow and sad, grown inside us
Arouse and see you're mine
(See you at the bitter end)
Love has seen your run-around
Who wanna seek you now?
I want a peace
I'd whine out
(See you at the bitter end)
Love's reached his side
Grab this gentleness inside
Heard a cry
Six feet down
(See you at the bitter end)
In six weeks' time
The mess you left
Will end

I'm not ashamed I'm not a critic I'll never look up how the hell you did it I'm not to blame This isn't physics We can't be lovers just because you said it Every day is just the same Watching as you play your game And I just can't beat you Can't you see we've reached the bitter end Can't you see there's not much left to mend Can't you see two lights collide Talk the talk as you decide Can't you see we've reached the bitter end We're not the same You're on a mission You always beat me down into submission I'm changing lanes You're in the mirror You've only got your feelings to consider Every day you wind it up Push me and you'll come unstuck But it just starts over Can't you see we've reached the bitter end Can't you see there's not much left to mend Can't you see two lights collide Talk the talk as you decide Can't you see we've reached the bitter end There's a hole in your heart where Something good must've been there You need someone just like me Only colder and empty Every day is just the same Watching as you play your game And I just can't beat you Can't you see we've reached the bitter end Can't you see there's not much left to mend Can't you see two lights collide Talk the talk as you decide Can't you see we've reached the bitter end (Can't you see we've reached the bitter end) Can't you see we've reached the bitter end (Can't you see we've reached the bitter end) Can't you see there's not much left to mend (Can't you see we've reached the bitter end) Can't you see two lights collide (Can't you see we've reached the bitter end) Talk the talk as you decide Can't you see we've reached the bitter end
