On 23 September 2011, Bille August announced that he had opened his studio in Hangzhou, China and taken a position as Tianpeng Media's Art Director, aiming to produce Chinese films for Tianpeng Media over the next few years. Tianpeng Media is a new media company established in 2010. The company so far has produced two films, The Women Knight of Mirror (竞雄女侠秋瑾) and The Years of Qi Xiao Fu (七小福之燃情岁月), which will be released later this year. Bille is the first foreign director to be hired by the Chinese film company. Recently, August also accepted the invitation from the Hangzhou government to serve as a "culture consultant" for the city.
The Best Intentions (Swedish:Den goda viljan) is a 1992 Swedish drama film directed by Bille August and written by Ingmar Bergman. It is semi-autobiographical and tells the story of the complex courtship of Bergman's parents, Erik and Karin (who are renamed Henrik and Anna in the film but retain the "real" surnames), and the difficult early years of their marriage, up to the point where Anna is pregnant with their second son, effectively Bergman himself. The film won the Palme d'Or at the 1992 Cannes Film Festival.
The film is a cut-down version of a four-part Swedish television series. The theatrical version was released as a Region 2 DVD in April 2010 and as a Region 1 DVD in 2011.
Plot
Henrik Bergman is a student of theology who comes from a poor family. On the other hand, the family of his best friend Ernst Åkerblom is wealthy. Although Henrik is in a relationship with Frida, a waitress, he falls in love with Ernst's sister Anna Åkerblom. Anna's family doesn't consider him fit to join the family, so he stays with Frida. Some years later, Anna's father is deceased, Anna suffers from tuberculosis and Henrik has finished his studies. Now the wedding can take place. Anna follows her husband to a small village in the north of Sweden. Their different characters and his low income cause constant tensions between them. When he turns down a job offer for a prestigious position in Uppsala, the situation exacerbates.

Ingmar Bergman wrote the screenplay chronicling the early years of the stormy relationship of his parents. Set in Swe- den at the turn of the century, the film focuses on the class differences that divide his mother and father, while the portrayal of little Bergy is limited to a bundle under his mother’s maternity dress. Inspired performances and directing illuminate the emotionally complex relationship, revealing truths about the universal human condition along the way. A six-hour version was shot for TV in Europe and Japan. Director August and actress August met and married during filming.

(George Merrill/Shannon Rubicam) I am not what I seem to be I mean no harm I'm not a fake There's a world alive inside of me Got a heart that beats And eyes that see So don't tune out this frequency CHORUS Best intentions don't guarantee Only love will set you free Makes no difference long as you live and breathe Like you, like me If I believe only what I see I kiss the dark I am the thief Stealing light from all of us in need Causing grief Ignorant conceit So show me love, give me some relief CHORUS I came from nowhere like this city street Everybody's walkin' to a lonely beat I don't know what they're saying But I know what they mean And all their good intentions Will only chain and fetter me Take me home To where I want to be...free Free..like you, like me, like you, free CHORUS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
