Steeltown Records was a short-lived record label active from 1966 to 1972. The record company was founded by William Adams (aka Gordon Keith), Ben Brown, Maurice Rogers, Willie Spencer, and Ludie Washington in Gary, Indiana, United States. It is best known as the label that first signed The Jackson 5 in 1967 before Motown signed the group in 1969.
Two Jackson 5 singles were recorded and produced in Chicago by Keith who signed "The Jackson Five" to a separate contract with him (each co-owner discovered, signed, and was responsible for their own groups) on November 23, 1967 during their short tenure with Steeltown — "Big Boy"/"You Changed" and "We Don't Have To Be Over 21 (to Fall in Love)"/"Some Girls Want Me For Their Lover"; "Big Boy" was released on January 31, 1968, and became a local hit. Keith himself a vocalist at the time, sang backup harmony with co-owner Washington and another recording artist on "Big Boy", which was written by Chicago musician Eddie Silvers.
Brown moved to Los Angeles, California, after the Jacksons moved there in 1969, and became the president of Jackson Records partnering with Joe Jackson, the father of The Jackson Five. In January 2015, Brown's son Dwayne Joseph Brown and his son's business partner, Alicia Barber (songwriter and author whom wrote "Born Rejected"), came together to launch SteelTown Los Angeles.

The Jackson 5 - You've Changed - Steeltown Records
Song the Jackson 5 originally recorded for Steel-Town Records, for the B-side of their debut single, Big Boy, issued in the States in January 1968 (no UK release).
Re-recorded on 19th and 29th July 1969 by the Jackson 5 for their debut album, DIANA ROSS PRESENTS THE JACKSON 5, issued in December 1969 in the States and March 1970 in the UK.
Mistakenly titled ‘You’ve Changed Me’ on early American pressings of the album sleeve, as Motown confused the song with another in their extensive back catalogue.
This is the first of many other song never officialy released by the Jackson 5 under Steeltown Records. More to come, hope you enjoy these old classics!
