【4K】TRETYAKOV GALLERY | Masterpieces of Russian art, museum tour
Tretyakov family bought the house in Lavrushinsky Lane in 1851. But the history of this property is traceable back to the end of the XVII century. Even then, there were built stone chambers that were rebuilt over the following centuries. Kologrivovs, the owners at that time, also rebuilt the chambers in the second half of the XVIII century.
Pavel Tretyakov acquired the first two paintings of Russian artists: - “Skirmish with Finnish Smugglers” by Basil Khudiakov and "Temptation" by Nikolai Schilder in 1856. That was a foundation of his great collection. There was not enough space for a constantly growing collection after some time. Pavel attached to the southwest corner of the main house additional housing where and put his gallery in 1872.

Night at the Tretyakov Gallery
The State Tretyakov Gallery has an amazing collection of art 🖼 It’s a historical place located at the center of Moscow that has exhibitions that circulate around Russian culture.
Here you will find the famous seascapes of Aivazovsky, "Girl with Peaches" and other works by the impressionist Serov, the grandiose painting by Vasnetsov "Bogatyry (Heroes)".
The gallery contains so much energy that we wouldn’t be surprised if the pictures came to life at night 👀
One would get the opportunity to explore the Night of Museums, and find out if the masterpieces really do awaken before dawn.

The Art Nouveau “Whirlwind” by Filipp Malyavin has been described as both violent and graceful. It shows a peasant woman dancing, which is a nod to the artist’s own humble beginnings.
These paintings are a natural part of art history. We hope that acquaintance with them will improve your understanding of art.

Pavel attached to the southwest corner of the main house additional housing where and put his gallery in 1872.
Pavel Tretyakov donated his collection, which included at that time 1287 paintings, 518 drawings and 9 sculptures of Russian artists XVIII-XIX centuries, as well as 75 paintings belonging to his brother Sergei Mikhailovich, who died recently, to the city of Moscow In 1892. Pavel himself became a lifelong trustee of the gallery. Even after his dеаth Tretyakov house was rebuilt and adapted to the needs of the gallery in 1899-1900. Buildings on Lavrushinsky Lane were united by the new facade designed by the artist Viktor Vasnetsov two years later. This is when the familiar look of the Tretyakov Gallery appeared.
I.E. Grabar was appointed a trustee of the gallery in 1913. He became a director of the gallery after the Revolution. "Tretyakov Gallery" was added by several neighboring estates, including closed by the time the church of St. Nicholas in Tolmachev in the 1920s and early 1930s. The architect Shchusev built additional two-storey building on the north side of the main building, which rooms were soon incorporated into the main route of exposure in 1936.
The new depository and museum building construction started in Bolshoy Tolmachevskiy Alley in the mid -1980s. Unfortunately, the new exhibition building was not a very unsuccessful in terms of architecture. The main body was reconstructed simultaneously while maintaining its historic appearance. All work was completed by 1995. The church of St. Nicholas in Tolmachev - now it is the home church - museum of the Tretyakov Gallery was included in the general museum ensemble. Here, in particular, is one of the most venerated relics of the Russian Orthodox Church - the miraculous Icon of the Vladimir Mother of God.
Currently, the gallery’s collection counts more than 170,000 works of art. And it is not only one of the most famous museums in the world, but also a major research and restoration center.

The history of the Tretyakov family is a telling and astonishing example of the activity of Russian patrons of the 19th century. Initially, the collection consisted only of paintings acquired by the Tretyakovs according to their own tastes. After the death of the instigator of this collection bequeathed to the city of Moscow, the museum continued to grow to become today one
The State Tretyakov Gallery (Russian: Государственная Третьяковская Галерея, Gosudarstvennaya Tretyâkovskaya Galereya; abbreviated ГТГ, GTG) is an art gallery in Moscow, Russia, the foremost depository of Russian fine art in the world.
The gallery's history starts in 1856 when the Moscow merchant Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov acquired works by Russian artists of his day with the aim of creating a collection, which might later grow into a museum of national art. In 1892, Tretyakov presented his already famous collection of approximately 2,000 works (1,362 paintings, 526 drawings, and 9 sculptures) to the Russian nation.
The façade of the gallery building was designed by the painter Viktor Vasnetsov in a peculiar Russian fairy-tale style. It was built in 1902–04 to the south from the Moscow Kremlin. During the 20th century, the gallery expanded to several neighboring buildings, including the 17th-century church of St. Nicholas in Tolmachi.
The collection contains more than 130,000 exhibits, ranging from Theotokos of Vladimir and Andrei Rublev's Trinity to the monumental Composition VII by Wassily Kandinsky and the Black Square by Kazimir Malevich.
In 1977 the Gallery kept a significant part of the George Costakis collection.
In May 2012, the Tretyakov Art Gallery played host to the prestigious FIDE World Chess Championship between Viswanathan Anand and Boris Gelfand as the organizers felt the event would promote both chess and art at the same time.
