LYRICS
When the Cotillion arrived
We threw out the television
Model D 575
Has custom flute presets
And Harmony-Plus in addition
Now for an arm and a leg
We get three half-dozen beats to choose from
So now we can pretend
That there's an orchestra in the loungeroom
I put the Genie Bass on
So my left hand can play the choir
With 16ft Diapason
And Lowrey's patented Orchestral Symphonizer
Banjo's great on repeat
The kids want to play but they'll have to be patient
The wife can't help tapping her feet
It's a genuine home entertainment revelation
State of the art
(Hold the phone, it's so)
State of the art
[Listen to the difference!]
(Oh my god, it's so)
State of the art
[By use of a computer]
State of the art
Now we don't want to go out
When we could spend the night at home with the Cotillion
Invite the neighbours around
Start the bossanova beat and limbo from the living to the kitchen
Enjoy the state of the art
The Magic Swing Piano really is astounding
Now we can't tell them apart
But these amazing simulations end up sounding even better than the real thing
State of the art
(Hold the phone, it's so)
[Computer controlled tone colour]
State of the art
[The marriage of music to computers is quite natural]
(Oh my god, it's so)
State of the art
[It is time to hear the results]

State of the Art - Spaceballs (Demo) 1992 - Amiga 500 - Demoscene
State of the Art was arguably the most iconic "demo" for the Amiga about in the 90's.
The demogroup Spaceballs was responsible for this epic demo featuring some breathtaking visuals and seizure-inducing stope effects.
This was the pinnacle of the Amiga demoscene in our eyes.

Spaceballs — State of the Art demo (WinUAE Amiga 50Hz no commentary)
This is the incredibly impressive State of the Art demo by the Spaceballs demo group. It was released at "The Party" in 1992, and was ranked first.
The first thing I noticed when uploading it to YouTube (at 1080p quality) is that just about all of the major sequences really test the mp4 compression. Highly contrasting changes in the pixels over almost the whole screen all of the time. So there is noticeable artifacting if you look close. The only way to get around that is to run the demo directly on a real or emulated Amiga.
Lots of impressive demonstration of the tricks that can be done with a planar graphics system. An excellent dance track, combined with some impressive rotoscoping, which would only be surpassed later on, in their Nine Fingers demo, which I'll upload soon and lin...

9 Fingers Spaceballs | Epic Commodore Amiga Music Demo (High Quality) (1993)
Spaceballs 9 Fingers - For the Commodore Amiga, was a two disk production that provides some techno music perfectly syncronized to the on screen visuals, including some pretty dancing ladies wearing somewhat clad clothing. Most of the graphics on the demo are indeed digitized at low resolution so the coder of this demo has been able to squeeze not only full video and entertaining visuals but a great soundtrack. Looking at the extensive list of people listed in this demo, I only assume Spaceballs filmed some of their own footage and combined it with other material before everything was digitized to low resolution and sliced together

Spaceballs - State of the Art in 60fps HD ( 1992 )
This was one of the first demos I ever saw on my cousin's Amiga 500 rig when I was much younger, it was created in 1992 by the demo group "Spaceballs" and it was extremely impressive at the time running on a computer that was created in 1987.

Revolutionary Spaceballs Demo On The Commodore Amiga (1992) - Must See!
Spaceballs - State of the Art for the Commodore Amiga, when released, was unique in many ways. Technically far from the best demo released on the Amiga. With that in mind, it's impossible to deny the fact that this demo is extremely well put together and at the time and it was a refreshing contribution to the scene
Spaceballs is a Norwegian-based Commodore Amiga demo group, originally formed by Dark Helmet on his own in 1988. In the following two years, he slowly recruited members from his home town of Halden.
An excellent dance track, combined with some impressive rotoscoping, which would only be surpassed later on, in their Nine Fingers demo, which I'll upload soon and link here.)

Aminet entry for this particular version of the State of the Art demo: (dms file)

(Not the Skid Row fixed version with all the usual demo scene "we fixed it, they suck" text plastered over the final screen. Sure, that might be a better version, but it makes the end screen ugly, which I refuse to put up with.) :)
There is a WHDLoad install for this demo too, which makes it play much better on fast Amigas. I just played this from an ADF disk-image with a virtual Amiga configured to be as close to an Amiga 500 as possible.

Spaceballs is a Norwegian-based Commodore Amiga demo group, originally formed by Dark Helmet on his own in 1988. In the following two years, he slowly recruited members from his home town of Halden. Lone Starr was the first recruit in 1988, the younger brother of a schoolmate of Dark Helmet's from Østfold Ingeniørhøgskole
