Arcade Game: Star Hawk (1979 Cinematronics)
A 3-D shoot 'em up game with vector (wireframe) graphics based on the star wars film.Players move a cross hair around the screen and must blast the approaching enemy spaceships.
The skill level settings affect how quickly the cross hairs move in response to the joystick input. As the game progresses, the speed of the enemy craft increases. If one particular enemy ship is not destroyed quickly enough, it will zap 800 points off the player's score, with the enemy itself also worth 800 points.
Star Hawk can effectively be played indefinitely, providing the player keeps shooting enough enemy ships.

Starhawk, 1979 Tim Skelly/Cinematronics
Interesting little Star Wars-inspired, black and white first person vector space shooter. It's timed, so your goal is to just get as many points as time allows. Aim your crosshairs with a joystick and fire at ships that fly past as you fly along a Death Star-looking surface. The pattern of the enemies flying by repeats after a wave of a handful of them. None of them shoot at you, but one will shoot at your score and take off 800 points if you let him (though you can then shoot him to get the 800 back). You have a joystick with a fire trigger on top, and 3 buttons to change the speed of your crosshairs if you so desire (default is medium speed, the best IMHO). The scoring list is Bomber: 100, Missile: 100, Rocket: 300, Star Ship: 500 and Command Ship (the one that shoots at your score...

Another Vectorbeam game... this time an obviously Star Wars inspired game where you are perpetually flying above what looks like the Death Star trench. It's a first person target game, again trying to shoot down as many enemy craft as possible. There is nothing friendly up here, so you just aim and shoot at anything that moves! The vector graphics are great - smooth scrolling and has a neato retro-future feel. Allows for some decent spaceship designs too... I like it.
The hardest thing about the game, hands-down, is that every 5 or 6 enemies you blast from the sky will cause this one ship to appear that comes up to the top-right of the screen and fires BACK at you - taking off 1,000 pts. It's not uncommon to go all the way back to zero a few times in a single game. Unless you're really staying ahead of the 1,000 pts deductions, or periodically picking off this most unwelcome of challengers... it's hard to get a decent score. I have to say I fed this game more quarters than most others of this era... 1 because it was timed, and 2 because I was trying to get a halfway decent score in the face of this negative pts enemy attack. Seriously, give it a try and beat my score of 7400!

The ship that curves to the left and right (and is thus hard to hit) seems to be the lucrative Star Ship, though the description of the ships in conjunction with their point value may not be correct. The default arcade machine is said to award 20 extra seconds if you pass 10,000 points, but it seems to not be working in this version of MAME (189). Pretty dull by today's standards but kind of diverting for 1979. Suggested by YouTube user ms3bani.

Starhawk is a 2012 third-person shooter video game developed by LightBox Interactive and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 3. It is the spiritual successor to 2007's Warhawk.
The most notable change from Warhawk is the addition of a single-player story mode, which was intended to be included in Warhawk but was eventually removed. The gameplay is similar to Warhawk. A new system called "Build and Battle" allows players to build structures such as bunkers, defenses, and armories in the midst of battle, giving the game a real-time strategy (RTS) feel while remaining a third-person shooter. The game includes flying mechs called Hawks. A player respawns into a landing craft which they can steer with in a...

A player respawns into a landing craft which they can steer with in a limited range to reach the battle field. Like Warhawk, there are 32-player online battles.Starhawk also has a co-operative mode similar in concept to the Horde Mode in the Gears of War franchise.

From the creators of Warhawk® comes a bold new 3rd Person shooter adventure where you can change the battlefield instantly in the heat of combat.
In the future, humanity’s last hope lies in the lawless frontier of space where factions battle over the universe’s most precious resource, Rift Energy. Caught in the middle is Emmett Graves, an outcast gunslinger who is drawn back to the planet that abandoned him, to face a fierce outlaw and his warband of followers.
Experience intense frenetic combat on foot, in vehicles, or in the air and discover a new type of shooter gameplay with the new “Build & Battle” system. Gain the tactical advantage by calling upon an arsenal of weapons, vehicles, and fortifications, violently delivered from an orbiting drop ship to help turn the tide of battle.
Engage in epic 32 player online battles and see maps dynamically change depending completely on each player's strategy or team up with friends and protect your claim against waves of AI opponents in online and offline Co-op modes.
