St Joseph's College is a co-educational independent school for both day and boarding pupils between the ages of 3 and 18, in Ipswich, England.
The college is situated near the centre of Ipswich in extensive grounds, on the site of Birkfield House. The grounds of Goldrood House and the Birkfield Mews, now boarding houses and infant school, were a later addition to the college.
Since May 2000, the college has undergone a programme of refurbishment and reorganisation and improved its facilities and resources, including a new teaching and learning centre, science computer atrium, new arts and photographic suite, computer networking, a music technology suite and enlarged boarding accommodation.
An even more recent refurbishment programme took place in 2007 with a multi-million pound, state of the art, eco-friendly, junior school being built. Goldrood House has now gone back to being a boarding house instead of Hilbrow House that was off of the college's campus.
Its creation was supervised by Archbishop Edward J. Hanna. Hanna ordered the purchase of 700 acres and the seminary was considered "the jewel of his accomplishments."
The school trustees are the De La Salle Brothers. The College was founded in 1855 and was located on High Street in Clapham between 1855 and 1888. The school has been on its present site in Beulah Hill since 1904. The De La Salle brothers were all poor from the help of John Baptist De La Salle they built a similar school for boys because there was already a similar school for girls and they named it after St Joseph.
Construction
The current Hall and Science Block was constructed in 1964, followed by a Design and Technology department in 1975, which has since been refurbished. The school features a newly built History block which includes four Classrooms and an office.It has been a voluntary aided school as of 1973. In 2003, it became a Mathematics and Computing specialist school.
It was founded in 1888 by Father Henri Depelchin, a Belgian Jesuit priest. The school campus is located about 3km north from downtown Darjeeling. The St Joseph's College is located in the same campus in the area known as North Point.

History
Early History
Prior to the arrival of European settlers, what is now called Ipswich was home to many indigenous language groups, including the Warpai tribe, Yuggera and Ugarapul Indigenous Australian groups. The area was first explored by European colonists in 1826, when Captain Patrick Logan, Commandant of the Moreton Bay penal colony, sailed up the Brisbane River and discovered large deposits of limestone and other minerals.
Ipswich was the terminus of the line from April 1976, when the lone round trip to Newburyport was cut, until full service was restored on October 26, 1998. Just south of the end of the platform are two auxiliary tracks that were used to store trains during that time.

The present-day constituency consists of most of the Borough of Ipswich, although the north-western part was transferred to the Central Suffolk constituency at the 1983 general election. Previous to this, the Parliamentary and Municipal Boroughs were always the same. Before the Reform Act 1832, the franchise in Ipswich was in the hands of the Ipswich Corporation and the Freemen. It has generally been favourable to Labour since World War II, although they have lost the seat on three occasions, and have sometimes won with very sparse majorities. From 1997 until a Conservative gain in 2010, Labour won the contests with safer margins.
