St. Mary's Church, St. Mary the Virgin's Church, St. Mary Church, Saint Mary Church, or other variations on the name, is a commonly used name for specific churches of various Christian denominations.
Notable uses of the term may refer to:
The parish was established in 1852 by the Rev. John Lewis, an ex-Redeptionist, who arrived in Staten Island that year. Mass was first celebrated in a private house before private land was donated and after a few years a church and rectory were built.
Pastors
Rev. John Lewis (1852-1887)
Rev. Corkery (1887-1890)
Rev. James F. Mee (1891-1909)
Rev. Michael A. Cunniff (1909-1909 when he died)
Msgr Daniel J. McMackin, D.D. (1909-?), assisted in 1914 by Rev. Cornelius J. Cronan
St. Mary's Parish School
The parochial school was established by the founding pastor, the Rev. Lewis, which in 1914 was conducted by 5 Sisters of Charity of Mount St. Vincent-on-the-Hudson (who also conduct an academy) and 3 lay teachers. The school had, in 1914, 182 boys and 188 girls. The school was among 27 closed by Archbishop Dolan in the Archdiocese of New York on 11 January 2011.
St. Mary's Church is a Roman Catholic church in Meilahti, Helsinki neighborhood. In 1954 the church was completed and it was designed by architect Kaj Salenius.
The Church has other parts, such as the church hall and rectory. These were corrected in 1976. The interior of the church was renovated in 1985. At that time, the church made an altar on the wall of a deacon by German artist Claus Kilian. The church interior from the outset was completed gradually. Construction has two different dates from the altar. Oldest altar is against the wall, and the current main altar is in the middle of the chancel. The church has a separate baptistery.
The church hall on both sides is composed of the stained glass windows representing the seven corporal and seven spiritual acts of charity.
The church organ dates back from 1965, it was built by Swedish Richard Jacoby. Church bell tower has three bells.

"Formerly Abandoned" Churches of Himara
By the looks of these two churches they must have been closed down or reconverted for other uses during Enver Hoxha's regime and only since the re-legalization of religious cult in Albania in the 1990's they must have been reopened and very humbly "refurbished" and crudely decorated again with some surviving and deteriorated old religious paraphernalia and some flowers for people to adore those idols and ruminate on their myths. An interesting detail, which can be observed even today, is that the houses do not obstruct the light of each other and from each of them you see unique views. Nowadays, through an investment of the Albanian Development Fund, the best stone masters are restoring Dhërmi to its early identity. It is believed that the inhabitants of Dhërmi come from North Albania, and this can be witnessed from the presence of some houses built like towers, “Kulla” in Albanian, a typology of northern settlements. Another information, told by a resident of the village, states that the road turn through which you enter Dhërmi is called Gogo Leka, a name from a family that came from the north with the surname Leka. Additionally, most of the old buildings of Dhërmi were built by craftsmen from Golloborda, located north of Albania. Once upon a time in the village of Dhërmi, the village elderly discussed everything important including village developments, conflict management, and road construction. It is worth mentioning that the first school opened in Dhërmi was around 1629 and served as an education center for the entire surrounding area.
Dhërmi is especially characterized by the high number of cults of the Orthodox faith (over 30 cult objects), making this the village with the highest number of cult objects.

These two sites look like nothing I have ever seen before in any Orthodox church and such state of dereliction and dilapidation, as well as the history behind, is what makes them fascinating.

Zvërnec Monastery, also known as the St. Mary Of Divinity Church, in shore version "St.Mary's Church", is one of the top things to do in Vlorë/Vlore, it’s about 20 mins drive from the heart of Vlorë. If you are traveling from Berat to Sarandë/Saranda, it's worthy to stop by and have a look at this "little Maldives".
The monastery is situated on a small island within the Narta Lagoon, the northwest of Vlorë. There is A long wooden bridge over the water, and walking across it is the highlight of the visit.
The Byzantine era church is believed to have been built in the 13th century. Although the exact construction date remains a mystery. The monastery is actually quite small. The building to the left was used as the lodging quarters for monks, while the Church of St. Mary the Divinity can be found in the centre.
🌟Entrance is free, but you can pay 10 leks to light up a candle and make a wish, it will also help them to maintain this beautiful place.

The picturesque village of Dhërmi is located on a mountain slope, in rugged terrain, and among the oldest villages in the area with characteristic stone constructions. Historical records suggest that this village on the Albanian coast has been inhabited since ancient times. The village is a historical center and protected area, it consists of three neighborhoods: Kondraqa or Kallami, followed by Gjileku and Dhërmiu, the latter has given the name of the village. In total, the whole village has about 600 houses, of which about 300 are located in Dhërmi, 150 in Gjilekë, and 150 in Kondraq. The typical houses of Dhërmi, made of stone, with regular volumes and shapes, tiled roofs, frames with hewn stones, and wooden windows, are a worthy representation of the traditional architecture of the entire Himara area.
The Church of St. Mary of Athaly carries historical and spiritual values for the inhabitants of Himara. It is a basilica-type church built in April 1795, carries unique values , and holds the status of a cultural monument since 1963. The church is located at the top of Xhumba hill, where there are also ancient ruins. The altar of the church is separated by an iconostasis of a fairly high wall, with three entrances. The bell tower rises above the central wall pediment, while at the east it ends with a cylindrical apse. In the present state, the nave is covered with an ordinary roof and without a ceiling, but it is thought to have had a wooden ceiling, while the existence of frescoes above the ceiling height and eleven buttresses supporting the side walls is an indication that the church once had a cylindrical vault.
According to residents, it is said that the church is dedicated to the "Sleep of St. Mary". For this reason, a week before Easter believers gather here to celebrate the feast of Athalia, a blessed day for them by staying until sunset or staying locked up in the monastery for one night. It is a typical religious holiday in the area.
The Monastery of Saint Mary is an eye catcher on the top of a hill, overlooking the Albanian village Dhermi and the Ionian Sea.

These two sites look like nothing I have ever seen before in any Orthodox church and such state of dereliction and dilapidation, as well as the history behind, is what makes them fascinating.
