In a letter dated August, 1855, Bishop Armstrong writes:
The laying of the foundation stone took place on 15 August 1855. Prior to this there existed a Grammar School, founded by Bishop Robert Gray in 1849 on the site currently occupied by the Good Shepherd School, under the management of Mr. M.C. Bendelack, who was soon succeeded by the Rev. F. Bankes. Mr. Bankes was appointed Principal of the new college, retaining also the title of Head-Master of St. Andrew's College Grammar School, as his school and all funds belonging to it were merged into the new institution. The Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge gave £1000 towards the building to which they added £500 in 1857, and a like sum in 1860. A supplementary sum was subscribed by friends of the Bishop.
St Andrews College was established in 1998 from the amalgamation of John Paul II Senior High School (founded in 1981) and Holy Family High School (1967–2010). The dual campus high school took its name from the local parish, St Andrew the Apostle.
Originally founded as a boys' secondary school at the end of the nineteenth century by members of the Presbyterian community, St. Andrew's College celebrated its centenary in 1994. It was on 8 January 1894 that the College opened its doors at 21 St. Stephen's Green in the centre of Victorian Dublin. This was to be the first of its three locations.
The school grew rapidly from its original intake of 64 students. By the end of 1894 there were 203 boys in the school.
Wellington Place
At the beginning of 1937 a move to new premises in Wellington Place, Clyde Road, along with a determined effort by past pupils and parents to stave off closure or amalgamation saw a revival in the fortunes of the College.

Government
The City of Dublin is a general law city operating under a City Council / City Manager form of local government. This form of government combines an elected mayor and council and an appointed local government administrator. The City Council elections are nonpartisan. The Mayor serves a two-year term, and Council members serve four-year terms.
From the 16th Century onwards, the village was part of the Kniaz Vishnevsky region. In the latter half of the 17th Century, the village became part of the Kniaz Konecpolsky region. The village was owned by Rekicky from 1811 onwards. In 1897, the village had a shop, a school, a bakery, two water mills and a forge.
