Because we practiced this for almost an entire week with Gianni in my back yard, then the driveway, and around the block, going off campus is now a breeze.
Gianni and Cooper are now the everywhere dogs they were always meant to be. So long as they have someone that will provide the guidance needed while holding them accountable for any shenanigans, they both will be able to brave whatever experience is thrown at them.

American Eskimo Learns the Place Command
The Place Command is by far the most important command to teach your dog! The benefits of Duration work in Place are insurmountable compared to any other obedience command. When this command is non-negotiable, meaning there is a consequence if you come off of the bed, cot, rug, dogs slip right into sleep mode. Duration reprograms the mind to be less reactive and to simply let distraction roll by without the impulse to respond. If you have an overly excitable dog, this is your secret sauce to regulating his state of mind.
This command is going to be so fantastic for Cooper and Gianni’s owners. They will be able to put these guys into command while they have guests over or need some peace and quiet. If we can regulate Cooper’s tendency to impulsively react to just about anything, Gianni wi...

So why so much focus on creating CALM? Aren’t our dogs supposed to have fun and round around like maniacs? Do you have a dog that reacts on walks, reacts in the house to the dog on TV, is fearful or stressed out, creating calm can have a major impact on arousal issues. American Eskimo Practices Obedience Outdoors
Guess what Peeps?! Gianni and I made it outside this morning for some e-collar Place and Recall action! We’re going to be practicing his recall with a long line here in my back yard until I feel he really has this whole “Come” thang down pat!
Then... we’ll be heading to Baldwin Park where the distractions are even greater! Why? Because we want to condition Gianni to come no matter what is happening around him. This also helps cultivate his impulse control! Instead of running off after that lizard 🦎, “Hey, Mr. Puff! Come!” and Gianni stops sniffing that ant pile, yikes! and comes running right back to me, every single time!
Now that’s something we all want to happen, right?

This quick video shows how to fix / re-align the spindle on the Riot Kayak Impulse Drive for Mako pedal kayaks. This sometimes happens if the spindle is not perfectly aligned or plastic cover is on tight and putting a bit of extra pressure on spindle. The spindle should spin smoothly when pedalled and operated.

American Eskimo Learns to Down Using Prong Pressure
This video demonstrates how to teach your dog the Down Command using the Herm Sprenger Prong collar.
The Down Command is a secured position that can literally be done anywhere since there is no object attached to it. This means you can use Down out in public when at a restaurant, in your house, in the car, or when you want that awesome pic of your dog!
The Down Command has “Stay” built into which means your dog cannot break the position without your release to do so. Teaching your dog to remain in the Down in the face of distractions is a wonderful way to create impulse control. Being stationary is challenging and by doing so, you can create a calmer state of mind.

We introduced the command to Gianni yesterday and will soon be working on small bits of duration for this pretty boy.

I work with clients who's dogs exhibit the following bratty behaviors: pulling on leash, jumping, counter surfing, leash reactivity, anxiety, whining, arousal issues, and more!
So why so much focus on creating CALM? Aren’t our dogs supposed to have fun and round around like maniacs? Do you have a dog that reacts on walks, reacts in the house to the dog on TV, is fearful or stressed out, creating calm can have a major impact on arousal issues. Does your dog pull on the leash, rush the door, whine all the time, guard his food bowl, jump up onto the counter to grab what’s cookin, act crazy in your car, and is constantly misbehaving? Well you’re not alone. Most dog owners suffer from bratty pets due to the lack of structure and consequences needed to stop unwanted behavior. Slowing these guys down will help them make better decisions that would otherwise seem impossible. Whatever your problem may be, I am here to help you create the framework needed to ensure your dog is the calm, balanced pooch you have always imagined.
