Sophie Ward was born in Perth, Western Australia, as the first child of Gary and Claire Ward. She is older sister of modelGemma Ward and she has younger twin brothers, Oscar and Henry Ward. Sophie Ward was discovered by Vivien's Modelling Agency when she went to watch her sister Gemma model.
Career
Ward was discovered in 2003 in Perth while in the audience of the "Search for a Supermodel" contest. Judges asked why she was not competing, and she explained that she was there only to watch her younger sister Gemma, who had reached the top 10 of the contest. Her sister's agency offered to represent her, and within several weeks Ward had won her first competition, the "City Face Competition."
Ward has worked for such magazines as Italian Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Australian Vogue, Follow and Mark magazines. She has been a regular at Fashion Weeks in both Sydney and Melbourne. She has been booked by many designers such as Tsubi, Toni Maticevski, Rebecca Dawson, Alex Perry, Michelle Jank, Tina Kalivas, Alice McCall, Mad Cortes and Scanlan & Theodore. In 2006, Ward was booked for both London and Paris Haute Couture Fashion Weeks, working with designers such as Giorgio Armani and Diane von Fürstenberg through the IMG agency.
Sophie Ward (born 30 December 1964), is an English actress and the daughter of late actor Simon Ward. Her screen roles include that of Elizabeth Hardy, the beautiful, ill-fated true love of Sherlock Holmes in the film Young Sherlock Holmes.
Career
Ward started work as an actress when she was aged 10, and has worked all over the world in film, television and theatre. She trained as a dancer under world famous ballerina Merle Park. One of Ward's early film roles was in the film Young Sherlock Holmes directed by Barry Levinson. Other early films included Full Circle, Return to Oz, Little Dorrit and A Summer Story, and she also portrayed the dancing love object in Roxy Music's video "Avalon".
During the 1990s she turned her acting energies to stagework, with considerable acclaim and success. She has appeared in several Glasgow Citizens' Theatre productions including Private Lives (as Amanda), Don Carlos (as Queen Elizabeth) and most strikingly in Hamlet as Ophelia. In 2006 she produced and starred in Henry Green's Nothing which had its US premier at the 59E59 Theatre in New York for the Brits Off Broadway Festival.

NCBF At Home: Sophie Ward
Actor Sophie Ward has delivered a truly mind-bending first novel, Love and Other Thought Experiments, which has been justly longlisted for this year's Booker Prize. Rooted in the touching story of a female couple embarking on motherhood but also facing the challenge of brain cancer, it playfully uses long established philosophical fables to stretch her human material this way and that, to explore different interpretations of reality and, indeed, the limits of love, memory and endeavour. In her film Sophie gives us glimpses of her home life, relates writing fiction to a long career of having to imagine alternative realities as a performer, and talks about this extraordinary novel's genesis and her lifelong love of Cornwall.

1960s England and a wind of change is blowing through the land.
It has even reached the sleepy village of St. Mary Mead. There’s a new housing estate to make the villagers curious and fearful. And even stranger, a rich American film star has bought the Manor House.
Jane Marple, confined to a chair after an accident, is wondering if life has passed her by.
Then there is a vicious murder, and Miss Marple must unravel a web of lies, tragedy and danger.
This adaptation of Agatha Christie’s famous novel brings real emotional depth and psychological insight to a thrilling story of revenge and the dark secrets that we all hide.
But can anything be hidden from Miss Marple, the sweet old lady with mind like a steel trap?
A brand-new production of Rachel Wagstaff’s (Birdsong, The Girl on the Train) acclaimed adaptation produced by the award-winning Original Theatre Company who brought you Alan Bennett’s The Habit of Art, the smash-hit comedy Invincible and the acclaimed Birdsong.
Starring Susie Blake as Miss Marple (Victoria Wood's As Seen on TV, Coronation Street, Mrs. Brown's Boys). "Playing Miss Marple is every actors dream over the age of 50. To play a bright, independent, older woman is surprising and exciting for the period it was written in as well as in our society today" Susie Blake
THE MIRROR CRACK’D will star Susie Blake as Miss Marple, Sophie Ward as Marina Gregg, Joe McFadden as Jason Rudd, Veronica Roberts as Dolly Bantry, Mara Allen as Cherry Baker, Sarah Lawrie as Ella Zielinsky, Jules Melvin as Heather Leigh and David Partridge as Cyril Leigh.

In her film Sophie gives us glimpses of her home life, relates writing fiction to a long career of having to imagine alternative realities as a performer, and talks about this extraordinary novel's genesis and her lifelong love of Cornwall.

Realising the pandemic obliged this year's North Cornwall Book Festival to be postponed to October 2021, NCBF has made a series of short films featuring the home and writing lives of the authors who would have spoken in 2020. These films were made with funding from Arts Council England's emergency fund and FEAST. www.ncornbookfest.org.
