What is skin? The layers of human skin
The skin is the largest organ of the human body, weighing approximately 16% of our bodyweight. Skin consists of multiple layers, epidermis, dermis and hypodermis. Produced by Clinuvel http://www.clinuvel.com
Human skin has numerous functions, it is the major interface between the environment and the human organs and so it serves many specialised functions that facilitate survival.
It regulates body temperature to protect against hyperthermia and hypothermia. Skin protects from the invasion of noxious substances, UV light, heat and micro-organisms.

How Does Human Skin Works? | Skin Structure And Function (Urdu/Hindi)
The skin is the largest organ of the body, with a total area of about 20 square feet. The skin protects us from microbes and the elements, helps regulate body temperature, and permits the sensations of touch, heat, and cold.
The epidermis, the outermost layer of skin, provides a waterproof barrier and creates our skin tone.
The dermis, beneath the epidermis, contains tough connective tissue, hair follicles, and sweat glands.

The beauty of human skin in every color | Angélica Dass

In this personal talk, hear about the inspiration behind her portrait project, Humanæ, and her pursuit to document humanity's true colors rather than the untrue white, red, black and yellow associated with race.

The Evolution and Meanings of Human Skin Color | Nina Jablonski
Variation in human skin color has fascinated and perplexed people for centuries. As the most visible aspect of human variation, skin color has been used in the past as a basis for classifying people into “races.” In this lecture, Leakey Foundation grantee Nina Jablonski discusses the evolution of human skin color and how color-based race concepts have influenced societies and impacted social well-being.
"The Evolution and Meanings of Human Skin Color" was presented at the Houston Museum of Natural Science on September 27, 2018, as part of The Leakey Foundation's Speaker Series program in partnership with the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

A Journey Through Your Skin
Imagine a suit that fits you perfectly, doesn't wrinkle for years, repairs itself, is waterproof, has air conditioning and heating, and protects you against damage and radiation. And it's all for free. You're wearing it now. This is your skin. The human body is a beautiful and mysterious machine. We collect the most interesting facts about the human body, and today, we're going to figure out how the human skin works.
So, your skin consists of three layers: the Epidermis, Dermis, and Hypodermis. The epidermis is the uppermost layer of your skin. This is your personal waterproof armor that protects the body from bacteria and damage. The lifespan of this armor isn't long, but the old cells are completely replaced with new ones after 4-6 weeks. By the way, half of the dust found in your hous...

The skin is also the most extensive sensory organ of the body for detection of tactile, thermal and painful stimuli and is where vitamin D production begins

Lyrics
When I heard that sound
When the walls came down
I was thinking about you
About you
When my skin grows old
When my breath runs cold
I'll be thinking about you
About you
Seconds from my heart
A bullet from the dark
Helpless, I surrender
Shackled by your love
Holding me like this
With poison on your lips
Only when it's over
The silence hits so hard
'Cause it was almost love, it was almost love
It was almost love, it was almost love
When I heard that sound
When the walls came down
I was thinking about you
About you
When my skin grows old
When my breath runs cold
I'll be thinking about you
About you
When I run out of air to breathe
It's your ghost I see
I'll be thinking about you, about you
It was almost love, it was almost...
We bleed ourselves in vain
How tragic is this game?
Turn around, I'm holding on to someone
But the love is gone
Carrying the load, with wings that feel like stone
Knowing that we nearly fell so far now
It's hard to tell
Yeah we came so close, it was almost love
It was almost love, it was almost love
When I heard that sound
When the walls came down
I was thinking about you
About you
When my skin grows old
When my breath runs cold
I'll be thinking about you
About you
When I run out of air to breathe
It's your ghost I see
I'll be thinking about you, about you
While I reached out for your hand
When the walls were caving in
When I see you on the other side
We can try all over again
When I heard that sound
When the walls came down
I was thinking about you
About you
When my skin grows old
When my breath runs cold
I'll be thinking about you

By the way, half of the dust found in your house is old skin cells! Yuck!... But let's go deeper and find out what your skin is made of, why it's so sensitive, why the skin on your scars looks a little different, and some other interesting facts about the human body's largest organ.
