Silverthorne, Colorado

The Town of Silverthorne is a Home Rule Municipality that is the second most populous town in Summit County, Colorado. According to 2010 Census, the population of the city is 3,887.

History

Silverthorne served as a makeshift camp for workers during the construction of the Dillon Reservoir from 1961-1963, and later as a stop along Interstate 70. It was eventually incorporated on April 5, 1967.

Geography

Silverthorne is located at 39°38′18″N 106°04′35″W / 39.638391°N 106.076505°W / 39.638391; -106.076505, at 8,730 feet above sea level (2661 meters). The town is situated between the Gore Range to the west and the Continental Divide to the east. The two most visible mountains are Buffalo and Red Mountains. Also surrounding the valley are Ptarmigan, Tenderfoot, and Ten Mile Peaks.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.2 square miles (8.3 km²), of which, 3.2 square miles (8.3 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km²) of it (0.94%) is water.

Bonnell (microarchitecture)

Bonnell is a CPU microarchitecture used by Intel Atom processors which can execute up to two instructions per cycle. Like many other x86 microprocessors, it translates x86 instructions (CISC instructions) into simpler internal operations (sometimes referred to as micro-ops, effectively RISC style instructions) prior to execution. The majority of instructions produce one micro-op when translated, with around 4% of instructions used in typical programs producing multiple micro-ops. The number of instructions that produce more than one micro-op is significantly fewer than the P6 and NetBurst microarchitectures. In the Bonnell microarchitecture, internal micro-ops can contain both a memory load and a memory store in connection with an ALU operation, thus being more similar to the x86 level and more powerful than the micro-ops used in previous designs. This enables relatively good performance with only two integer ALUs, and without any instruction reordering, speculative execution or register renaming. The Bonnell microarchitecture therefore represents a partial revival of the principles used in earlier Intel designs such as P5 and the i486, with the sole purpose of enhancing the performance per watt ratio. However, Hyper-Threading is implemented in an easy (i.e. low-power) way to employ the whole pipeline efficiently by avoiding the typical single thread dependencies.

Intel Atom

Intel Atom is the brand name for a line of ultra-low-voltage IA-32 and x86-64 CPUs (or microprocessors) from Intel, originally designed in 45 nm complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor (CMOS) with subsequent models, codenamed Cedar, using a 32 nm process. Atom is mainly used in netbooks, nettops, embedded applications ranging from health care to advanced robotics, and mobile Internet devices (MIDs).

The first generation of Atom processors are based on the Bonnell microarchitecture. On 21 December 2009, Intel announced the Pine Trail platform, including new Atom processor code-named Pineview (Atom N450), with total kit power consumption down 20%. On 28 December 2011, Intel updated the Atom line with the Cedar processors.

In December 2012, Intel launched the 64-bit Centerton family of Atom CPUs, designed specifically for use in servers.Centerton adds features previously unavailable in Atom processors, such as Intel VT virtualization technology and support for ECC memory. On 4 September 2013 Intel launched a 22 nm successor to Centerton, codenamed Avoton.

The Silverthornes were indicted for defrauding the federal government and arrested at their homes on February 25th, 1919. While the Silverthornes were in custody, federal officers went to the Silverthornes’ office at their lumber company. Without a warrant or other authority to do so, the officers took all of the books and documents they found in the office. The federal prosecutor made photographs and copies of the seized materials and used the information gained from the materials to draft a new indictment. The Silverthornes applied to the United States District Court for the Western District of New York, seeking the return of their unlawfully seized materials. The court held that the seizure of the materials was unconstitutional and ordered the original materials to be returned to the Silverthornes and the photographs and copies to be impounded. Using the information he’d obtained from examining the seized materials, the federal prosecutor then subpoenaed the Silverthornes to produce the original books and documents before the grand jury. The Silverthornes refused to comply with the subpoena, and the district court ordered them to comply. The Silverthornes again refused to produce the materials and asserted that the court’s order violated their Fourth Amendment rights. The court entered a judgment of contempt, ordering Frederick to be imprisoned and fining the lumber company two hundred and fifty dollars. United States | 251 U.S. 385 (1920) If evidence is obtained in violation of the Constitution, for instance, by an illegal seizure, that evidence is inadmissible. And if any additional evidence is derived from the illegally obtained evidence, that evidence is also inadmissible as the tainted fruit of the poisonous tree. Let’s examine the roots of the fruit-of-the-poisonous-tree doctrine, as we explore Silverthorne Lumber Company versus United States. Frederick and Asa Silverthorne owned the Silverthorne Lumber Company in Tonawanda, New York. The Silverthornes were indicted for defrauding the federal government and arrested at their homes on February 25th, 1919. While the Silverthornes were in custody, federal officers went to the Silverthornes’ office at their lumber company. Without a warrant or other authority to do so, the officers took all of the books and documents they found in the office. The federal prosecutor made photographs and copies of the seized materials and used the information gained from the materials to draft a new indictment. The Silverthornes applied to the United States District Court for the Western District of New York, seeking the return of their unlawfully seized materials. The court held that the seizure of the materials was unconstitutional and ordered the original materials to be returned to the Silverthornes and the photographs and copies to be impounded. Using the information he’d obtained from examining the seized materials, the federal prosecutor then subpoenaed the Silverthornes to produce the original books and documents before the grand jury. The Silverthornes refused to comply with the subpoena, and the district court ordered them to comply. The Silverthornes again refused to produce the materials and asserted that the court’s order violated their Fourth Amendment rights. The court entered a judgment of contempt, ordering Frederick to be imprisoned and fining the lumber company two hundred and fifty dollars. Silverthorne, Colorado

The Town of Silverthorne is a Home Rule Municipality that is the second most populous town in Summit County, Colorado. According to 2010 Census, the population of the city is 3,887.

History

Silverthorne served as a makeshift camp for workers during the construction of the Dillon Reservoir from 1961-1963, and later as a stop along Interstate 70. It was eventually incorporated on April 5, 1967.

Geography

Silverthorne is located at 39°38′18″N 106°04′35″W / 39.638391°N 106.076505°W / 39.638391; -106.076505, at 8,730 feet above sea level (2661 meters). The town is situated between the Gore Range to the west and the Continental Divide to the east. The two most visible mountains are Buffalo and Red Mountains. Also surrounding the valley are Ptarmigan, Tenderfoot, and Ten Mile Peaks.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.2 square miles (8.3 km²), of which, 3.2 square miles (8.3 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km²) of it (0.94%) is water.
