Sheila Walsh, née Sheila Frances O'Nions (10 October 1928 – 20 January 2009) was a British writer of romance novels from 1975 to 2001; she also wrote as Sophie Leyton.
In 1971, Sheila joined the Southport Writers' Circle and was elected life president in 1986. In 1980 she became the vice-president of the Romantic Novelists' Association and later was the thirteenth elected Chairman (1985–1987).
Biography
She was born Sheila Frances O'Nions on 10 October 1928 in Birmingham, England, UK. She was the daughter of Wilfred O'Nions, a civil servant, and his wife Margaret (Moran) O'Nions. She studied at the Notre Dame Convent at Birkdale, Southport. During the World War II, her family moved to Southport, Lancashire, where she met Desmond "Des" Walsh, son of Thomas Walsh, who had a jewelry store at 39 Chapel Street since 1926. She studied at Southport College of Art, from 1945 to 1948. On 22 April 1950, Sheila married Des Walsh, and they had two daughters, Frances Mary "Fran" Walsh and Teresa "Tess" Walsh. Sheila worked during years in her husband's familiar jewelry store, with her husband, her husband elder brother Gerard and his wife Dorothy.
Sheila Bellush was a mother of six who was murdered on November 7, 1997 by a hired gunman named Joey Del Toro, on the orders of her ex-husband, Allen Blackthorne. Blackthorne, who had stalked Bellush since their divorce in 1987, allegedly wanted custody of their two children.
Background
Sheila Leigh Walsh was born on October 19, 1962 in Topeka, Kansas. She married Blackthorne in 1982, and had two daughters, Stevie and Daryl. Their divorce was not amicable, with each accusing the other of abusing their children. Sheila married Jamie Bellush in 1993, and had quadruplets two years later. They moved to Sarasota, Florida to escape the constant surveillance of her ex husband.
Murder
Blackthorne was unhappy with his divorce from Sheila, and began to harass her after she won custody of their children. When the Bellush family moved to Florida he tracked her down using a private investigator and decided to hire a hoodlum to beat her up. A golfing buddy, Daniel Alex Rocha, a minor criminal, seemed the best bet to set his plan in motion, and Blackthorne asked Rocha to help him. Rocha was allegedly told by Blackthorne that Sheila was abusing their two children, Stevie and Daryl, which is the reason Rocha agreed to the whole thing because Rocha didn't want the children to be in any harm. So Rocha contacted a friend, Samuel Gonzalez, who introduced him to his cousin, Jose Luis Del Toro. Del Toro agreed to do the job in return for a monetary sum.
In 1997 Sheila Bellush, a mother of six, was brutally murdered. Police arrested three men. But was her ex-husband, a millionaire businessman, behind the crime? "48 Hours" correspondent Peter Van Sant reports in this episode from September 2000. Watch more full episodes of "48 Hours" on Pluto TV.

Allen Blackthorne was convicted of federal charges of interstate conspiracy to commit murder and interstate domestic violence. He received two concurrent life sentences without the possibility of parole, starting at the Beaumont, Texas federal prison. In 2001, Blackthorne was nearly killed during an attack by a prison gang, after which he was segregated from the general prison population and eventually transferred to a Florida facility. Blackthorne died aged 59 on November 18, 2014, at the federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana. The cause of death in the case was not released.

On Friday, November 7, 1997, 13-year-old Stevie Bellas rushed home to share with her mother what had happened at school that day. When Stevie entered the house, she was immediately surprised to see her younger siblings sitting in the hallway, crying. She called out for her mother, but there was no response. Stevie headed towards the laundry room but stopped halfway as she reached the kitchen. In the kitchen, she was met with a horrifying scene - things were scattered everywhere, clothes were strewn about, and there was a long trail of dried blood on the floor. Her mother lay motionless on the floor, surrounded by a pool of drying blood. Stevie leaned down to touch her mother's face, longing to lift her and embrace her, but she understood that she couldn't do that. The girl called 911 for Sarasota, Florida's emergency services.
