Sgt. Mike Battle is a fictional British small press comicsaction hero published by Pier-C Comics who currently appears in the bi-annual anthology title Sgt Mike Battle: The Greatest American Hero!
Created by Graham Pearce in 2000, Battle first appeared in Sgt. Mike Battle: Nazi Stomper!, a 6-page comic strip that inaccurately retells World War II in 6 pages starting at D-Day and ending with Adolf Hitler's death in Berlin. Initially inspired by Hollywood's obsession with rewriting history in films like U-571, Pearce continued this theme with several sequel strips. The first five strips were collected into Sgt Mike Battle: The Greatest American Hero! #1 in August 2001. Since then he has continued to write, draw, letter and publish many more adventures of Sgt Mike Battle and recently released SMB:GAH #11 in May 2008.
Fictional publication history
Within Pier-C's world, the character of Sgt Mike Battle has appeared in his own monthly title by fictional publisher Patriot Comics since 1916. Originally he was one of several characters that featured in Patriot Comics Monthly Adventure Western Sci-Fi Crime Romance Horror Comedy Fantasy. When the United States joined World War I, the publishers decided to take advantage of current affairs and feature Mike Battle in the WWI story Sgt. Mike Battle: Boche Stomper! #16. From that point on, Battle became the star of the book and although the book's "... Stomper" suffix is constantly being changed, it has continued with its numbering to the present day.

Those 3 lots were originally owned by the old store-owner who sold the rights to it, along with 40 adjacent lots, now owned by 11 parties (including me). The last person to buy the store converted it to their residence, with no TWP approval nor any legal regard to the deeded accesses. That action was not challenged at the time due to his signing a notarized legal affidavit (recorded in county liber) that he knew of and respected the preexisting (already recorded in county liber since 1911) land usage rights to what would now essentially be the back and side yard of this newly established residence. Now, present day, his elderly widow's out-of-state daughter has moved in and has been added to the deed and is using this unstable man as a tool to bully and harass in effort to illegally seize the deeded lakeshore rights from 11 houses. He had not got around to me yet, but my duty as a man was to go ahead and step in when he ripped out the dock of my neighbor lady who lives alone, followed by numerous attempts to drive away other neighbors. Just simply called the police for my neighbor while she was away, and filmed his act of destroying her property, and that intervention by me for her is what has him now fixated on trying get at me somehow. Finding out the hard way that Battle Creek Police was unwilling to protect us, we petitioned the court and did get a PPO signed. To our shock not only would BCPD not even enforce the court's order, SGT Fickle, CPL Wolf & others have been helping the offender bully us. Worst of all now it appears my efforts to report and expose this officer misconduct by Battle Creek Police has been met with the TWP Supervisor Joni Jones, BCPD Chief Jim Blocker, Calhoun CO Prosecutor David Gilbert and others conspiring to charge and prosecute me for trumped-up crimes. So far 100% of the Battle Creek City, Bedford Charter TWP, Calhoun CO, Michigan State, and U.S. Federal law enforcement/ official oversight is still effectively turning a BLIND eye to all this. All of this report is evidenced on these videos here in numeric order of events. Americans, please help us get this matter get some American accountability.

Rorke's Drift
On 22 and 23 January 1879, Bourne was part of the garrison at Rorke's Drift, Natal, South Africa, which held off a Zulu army. Bourne, who was now an NCO in B Company, 2nd Battalion, 24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot, helped organise the defence at the mission station and field hospital. Throughout the day and night of the battle, the Zulus made repeated attacks against the barricades, but the outnumbered defenders held out until relief arrived.
For his bravery, Bourne received the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) for "outstanding coolness and courage" during the battle, with a £10 annuity. The DCM, until 1993, was the second highest military decoration (after the Victoria Cross) awarded to other ranks of the British Army. He was offered a commission, but "being an eighth son, and the family exchequer ... empty", he declined it.
Later career
After Rorke's Drift, Frank Bourne served in British India and Burma, being promoted to Quartermaster-Sergeant in 1884.[2] He was commissioned in 1890. In 1893 he was appointed adjutant of the School of Musketry at Hythe, Kent, retiring from the army in 1907. During World War I, he rejoined and served as adjutant of the School of Musketry in Dublin. During this time he was responsible for training over 10,000 British and Irish sharpshooters. Some of these highly trained Irish infantry troops and snipers are thought to have utilised their specialised fighting skills to train local republican sympathisers after the war ended. These paramilitary and splinter groups would then form part of what is known today as the Irish Republican Army. At the end of the war, he was given the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel and appointed OBE.
Bourne lived in retirement at 16 King's Hall Road, Beckenham, Kent. He was the last surviving defender from Rorke's Drift, dying on 9 May 1945 (the day after VE Day), at the age of 90. Bourne was buried in Beckenham Crematorium and Cemetery. His house in Beckenham has been adorned with a blue plaque.[3]
