"Set Me Free" is the debut single by Velvet Revolver, released in 2003. It was released as the lead single from their debut album Contraband. It also appeared in the 2003 Marvel Comics film Hulk.
Alternative versions
The album version features different mixing and also contains a slightly different ending, with a drum beat no longer finishing the song.
A live version is also included on the "Slither" single. This version includes an extended guitar solo at the end of the song.
Song Structure
The song's main riff was created by the band's guitarist, Slash. The song then goes through two rotations of verse-chorus, then a bridge and a fairly complicated guitar solo by Slash. The song then finishes with another chorus and guitar solo.
Music video
The music video, directed by Dean Karr, shows the band playing at a club live, which was the first gig where the Velvet Revolver idea was formed. It also shows some scenes from the Hulk movie.
"Set Me Free" is a song from American singer Jermaine Stewart. Released in 1992, it would be the last single of his music career. The song was released as the lead single from the album of the same name "Set Me Free", however the album itself was pulled from release, and as such remains unreleased to date.
"Set Me Free" was written by Stewart and DJ and music producer Jesse Saunders. Saunders, one of the pioneers of House music, also produced the single, as well as the entire "Set Me Free" album. The song is not to be confused with a song of the same name, written by Derek Bramble, which Stewart had previously recorded for his 1989 album "What Becomes a Legend Most".
Background
Since 1988, there had been a decline in Stewart's popularity, with the 1988 single "Don't Talk Dirty to Me" only reaching #61 in the UK. The 1989 single "Tren de Amor" managed to just peak into the UK top 100, peaking at #97 and the 1990 single "Every Woman Wants To peaked at #95.

Velvet Revolver - Set Me Free (HQ) + Lyrics
You operate and motivate on synthetic fuel
You're mother nature and an atom bomb
As long as you're kept full of pretty bodies
Your little secret will be safe with me
Around again
Insane again
It comes again
And sets me free
[Chorus:]
So set me free, set me free
'Cause I think you need my soul
Set me free, set me free
You're kept alive and polarized with one thing in mind
Metabolize everything that you see
But now and then or a little later
Now I'm gonna take you down with me
Around again
Insane again
She comes again
And sets me free
[Chorus x2]
So set me free, set me free
'Cause I think you need my soul
Set me free, set me free
[Bridge x2]
So take me down
Take me, down, down, down, down
Take me down, take me down
[Chorus x4]
So set me free, set me free
'Cause I think you need my so...

I made a music video a while back with this song, but I'd figure that I'd give it another try considering I'm much better with editing since then.
