amiina (formerly amína) is an Icelandic band composed of Hildur Ársælsdóttir (born January 31, 1980), Edda Rún Ólafsdóttir (born February 3, 1978), Maria Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir (born September 29, 1980), and Sólrún Sumarliðadóttir (born August 10, 1977). The name is spelled in lowercase. They have frequently performed live and in the studio with Sigur Rós. In 2009 Magnús Trygvason Eliassen (born November 18, 1985) and Guðmundur Vignir Karlsson (aka Kippi Kaninus)(born November 10, 1978) joined the group on a permanent basis.
Their music is made with a great number of instruments. It contains elements of minimalistic style, contemporaryclassical, ambient, and electronicloops. In their performances each member will play many instruments, sometimes moving across the stage, going from one instrument to another in mid-song.
History
Before adopting the name amiina the group was initially a string quartet dating back to the late 1990s when they were studying string instruments at the Reykjavík College of Music. The group started out playing classical music, but increasingly moved on to play all sorts of music with various bands in Reykjavík: María and Hildur as violinists, Edda as violist, and Sólrún as cellist.
"Seoul" is the second release from the Icelandic quartet Amiina. It is also the first single from their first album, Kurr. It was self-released on 6 November 2006 in Europe and released by The Worker's Institute on 7 November 2006 in the USA. In January 2007, it was made available on iTunes by the Danish label Rumraket.
The 12" vinyl EP is limited and hand numbered to 1000 copies and contains a bonus track in the form of "Seoul" remixed by Frakkur (Sigur Rós' Jón Þór Birgisson's artist name when releasing solo material). Kjartan Sveinsson, also from Sigur Rós, as well as Birgir Jón Birgisson participated in the mastering of the single at Sundlaugin studio.
Track listing
"Seoul" – 7:01
"Ugla" – 3:59
"Ammælis" – 2:57
"Óróamix" – 4:47 (Seoul Remix by Frakkur, bonus track on 12" vinyl)

(bliss) Thinking about you How it would be If I could live without you Something I just can't seem to visualise When I look into your eyes I only hear the words I want to hear Say that you'll be mine For ever and ever You don't have to tell the truth But I want you to Say that you're mine Say that you'll be mine For ever and ever Let me live a fantasy Gotta lie to me won't you please Say that you're mine Deep inside me I hear a warning voice Speak softly to me Asking how I could ever be so blind I've been trying to read your mind Why don't you say the words I want to hear Why don't you Chorus Doing all I can to make you see Ooh, baby what you do to me Don't you know my heart's in jeopardy The effect you havin' over me
