For many years, the sole member of the Mountain Goats was Darnielle, despite the plural moniker. Although he remains the core member of the band, he has gradually worked with a variety of collaborators, who have included bassist and vocalist Peter Hughes, drummer Jon Wurster, singer-songwriter Franklin Bruno, bassist and vocalist Rachel Ware, singer-songwriter/producerJohn Vanderslice, guitarist Kaki King, and multi-instrumentalist Annie Clark.
Throughout the 1990s, the Mountain Goats were known for producing low-fidelityhome recordings (most notably, on a cassette deckboombox) and releasing recordings in cassette or vinyl 7" formats. Since 2002, the Mountain Goats have adopted a more polished approach, recording studio albums with a full band, while still maintaining organically emotional lyrical motifs.
All music written by Fabio Lione (Tordiglione) and Olaf Thörsen (Magnani) except where noted. All lyrics written by Olaf Thörsen except track 11 originally written by A-ha.
"Send Me an Angel" is a 1983 song by Australian band Real Life. Initially released on Real Life's debut album Heartland, it is the band's most well-known song. This version originally peaked in early 1984 in the US at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song's biggest chart success, however, was in 1989, where an updated version entitled "Send Me an Angel '89" surpassed the original version from 1983. "Send Me An Angel '89" reached a peak of No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the summer of 1989 in the US. Both versions are very similar; the 1989 version is missing the louder "claps" in the chorus and the drums sound much less electronic, more like an acoustic kit, as opposed to the typical 1980s electronic drums sound heard on the original. The song is prominently featured in the 1989 film The Wizard, the 1986 film Rad, and the 1987 film Teen Wolf Too.
Song meaning
The song is about a man who asks himself whether he will find true love.
The mountain goat (Oreamnos americanus), also known as the Rocky Mountain goat, is a large hoofed mammal endemic to North America. A subalpine to alpine species, it is a sure-footed climber commonly seen on cliffs and ice.
Despite its vernacular name, it is not a member of Capra, the genus that includes all other goats, such as the wild goat, Capra aegagrus, from which the domestic goat is derived.
Classification
The mountain goat is an even-toed ungulate of the order Artiodactyla and the family Bovidae that includes antelopes, gazelles, and cattle. It belongs to the subfamily Caprinae (goat-antelopes), along with 32 other species including true goats, sheep, the chamois, and the muskox. The mountain goat is the only species in the genus Oreamnos. The name Oreamnos is derived from the Greek term oros (stem ore-) "mountain" (or, alternatively, oreas "mountain nymph") and the word amnos "lamb".
General appearance and characteristics
Both billy (male) and nanny (female) mountain goats have beards, short tails, and long black horns, 15–28cm (5.9–11.0in) in length, which contain yearly growth rings. They are protected from the elements by their woolly white double coats. The fine, dense wool of their undercoats is covered by an outer layer of longer, hollow hairs. Mountain goats molt in spring by rubbing against rocks and trees, with the adult billies shedding their extra wool first and the pregnant nannies shedding last. Their coats help them to withstand winter temperatures as low as −50°F (−46°C) and winds of up to 100mph (160km/h).

LYRICS
There's bound to be a ghost at the back of your closet
No matter where you live
There'll all ways be a few things, maybe several things
That you're gonna find really difficult to forgive
There's gonna come a day when you'll feel better
You'll rise up free and easy on that day
And float from branch to branch, lighter than the air
Just when that day is coming, who can say? Who can say?
Our mother has been absent
Ever since we founded Rome
But there's gonna be a party when the wolf comes home
We're gonna comandeer the local airwaves
To tell the neighbors what's been going on
And they will shake their heads and wag their bony fingers
In all the wrong directions and by daybreak we'll be gone
I'm gonna get myself in fighting trim
Scope out every angle of unfair advantage
I'm gonna bribe the officals, I'm gonna kill all the judges
It's gonna take you people years to recover from all of the damage
Our mother has been absent
Ever since we founded Rome
But there's gonna be a party when the wolf comes home, oh

Catch a lucky break try to make it last Rig a blanket curtain up between the present and the past Play my lucky number for most of what they're worth Lie about my age right down to my last day on this earth Set you sights on good fortune, concentrate Pull back the hammer, try to hold the gun straight Hit the gym each night Stay cool and seldom speak Keep the heart of a champion Never let them see you're weak And whatever they say on your page three mention Focus on the parts that make you feel good Be grateful for the attention Set your sights on good fortune, concentrate Pull back the hammer, try to hold the gun straight Try to hold the gun straight and true and steady Let the frame find you when the cameraman's ready Work until I drop drift from place to place Ehrenfeld, Pennsylvania, scratched into my face Set your sights on good fortune, concentrate Pull back the hammer, try to hold the gun straight
