The brown trout (Salmo trutta) is a European species of salmonid fish that has been widely introduced into suitable environments globally. It includes both purely freshwater populations, referred to Salmo truttamorphafario and S. trutta morpha lacustris, and anadromous forms known as the sea trout, S. trutta morpha trutta. The latter migrates to the oceans for much of its life and returns to fresh water only to spawn. Sea trout in the UK and Ireland have many regional names, including sewin (Wales), finnock (Scotland), peal (West Country), mort (North West England), and white trout (Ireland).
The lacustrine morph of brown trout is most usually potamodromous, migrating from lakes into rivers or streams to spawn, although evidence indicates stocks spawn on wind-swept shorelines of lakes. S. trutta morpha fario forms stream-resident populations, typically in alpine streams, but sometimes in larger rivers. Anadromous and nonanadromous morphs coexisting in the same river appear genetically identical. What determines whether or not they migrate remains unknown.

The Best Way To Catch Big Wild Brown Trout! (Fly Fishing)
This is how my brother and I have caught some of our biggest wild brown trout!!
It's a pretty simple technique which just involves streamer fishing, moving the biggest brown trout you can, and then nymphing that spot hoping you can fool him into eating a nymph. You can easily move a bunch of water streamer fishing which is much more difficult to effectively do with a nymph, and it typically produces the biggest fish. But an effective tight line/euro nymphing setup and fisherman can easily catch some big fish if you can figure out exactly where they are sitting.
Andrew and I have used this technique a lot in the past year or two and it has produced some of our biggest wild brown trout, several of which were in the upper 20's. It is fairly easily replicated across the US and in big or sma...

It is fairly easily replicated across the US and in big or small water. One of the reasons Fly fishing is so effective is in part due to how many techniques you can use with one style of fishing.
I hope everyone enjoyed! Thanks for watching.

It is fairly easily replicated across the US and in big or small water. One of the reasons Fly fishing is so effective is in part due to how many techniques you can use with one style of fishing.
I hope everyone enjoyed! Thanks for watching.
Heading out to a favoured small river in search of a few brown trout. Conditions were autumnal but the dry fly fishing still came good. Over a day a series of nice trout were landed, one being particularly good sized. Thanks for watching!
