The Scottish Greyhound Derby is an original classic greyhound competition held at Shawfield Stadium.
Held at Carntyne Stadium from 1928 to 1968, after the closure of Carntyne the race appeared at Shawfield from 1970 until 1985.
In 1988 the Greyhound Racing Association (GRA), moved the race to Powderhall Stadium in Edinburgh because they had the rights to the event and wanted it to take place at one of their tracks. After just two years it returned to Glasgow and Shawfield following the sale of Powderhall by the GRA.
Shithead (also known as Karma, Palace, Shed, Three Card Game and by many other names) is a card game similar to the Finnish game Paskahousu. In the game the object is to lose all of one's cards, with the last player to do so being the "shithead", who must deal the next game and may be subject to some minor forfeit of the group's choice, such as fetching the next round of drinks.
The game, and variations of it, is popular in many countries amongst backpackers, and as a result is widespread. Although the basic structure of the game generally remains constant there are often regional variations of the game's original rules.
Rules
There are many variations of the rules, and there is no universally accepted set. A common set of rules is listed here.
Setup
From a standard, shuffled deck of 52 cards, each player is dealt three face-down cards in a row. Players are not allowed to see or change these cards. On top of the face-down cards, they are dealt the same number of face-up cards. Three cards are again dealt to each player (face down), and this becomes the player's hand.
Derby is a 1971 American documentary film directed by Robert Kaylor about the world of professional roller derby in the 1970s. The film is also known as Roller Derby in the United Kingdom.
A sports rivalry is intense competition between athletic teams or athletes. This pressure of competition is felt by players, coaches, and management, but is perhaps felt strongest by the fans. The intensity of the rivalry varies from a friendly competition on one end to serious violence on the other that, in one case (the Football War), was suggested to have led to military conflicts. Owners typically encourage rivalries as they tend to improve game attendance and television ratings for rivalry matches, but a rivalry that gets out of control can lead to fighting, hooliganism, rioting and some, with career-ending or even fatal consequences. Often the topic of sports rivalries is as heated and controversial as politics and religion.
Some people are will to try to tell you this card game is called Palace, but I'm sorry, if you call it Palace no one is going to know what you are talking about. The goal is to not be the last person with cards or you'll be "The Shithead!"
This is a modern card game that comes from Europe. It is wildly popular, especially with young backpackers who travel around while teaching it to their new friends.

Tutorial on how to play this popular card game.

How to play Shithead (my rules!)
This is of course just one way to play, there are many others, with completely different power card rules. Why not make up your own?! An 8 could be a ‘see through’ card, a King could reverse the order of play, or the Ace of Spades could mean everyone has to sing the entire Motörhead song at the top of their lungs.
I left this out but a scoring system based on whoever lost or whoever went out first on each round might add extra value for longer sessions...
However you play I hope you have fun!!

Since I'm here, I made this for people who have already known how to play, but like me, was looking for new variations to use. I should apologize because that was the frame of mind I was in when making this.
I was more intent on making the Cut Throat video which is my actual variation on the game, but I understand my way of playing, i.e., picking first before playing and such, differs enough from any other I played that I wanted to cover those points in-depth.
I hope this doesn't deter anyone from trying out my set of rules. And I promise, Cut Throat is where its at anyway. Namaste
