Meet Logoi Malaeulu Mariner and his family from Salelavalu, Savaii. The 69 year old has been farming for almost 50 years and is one of the oldest commercial farmers on the big island.
As a beneficiary of the World Bank Pacific funded SAFPROM Matching Grant Program, Logoi and his family have been able to improve productivity on the farm and increase production of their vegetable and root crops supply to the local market.
Watch the heartwarming story of Logoi Mariner to see how this humble farmer and grandfather is building a legacy of agricultural sustainability and financial literacy to secure a healthier and more prosperous future for his grandchildren.

Welcome to Savai'i, Samoa | Pacific Islands | Polynesia
This was our first day in Savai'i. We began the day in Apia city in Upolu and travelled to "the big island" Savai'i on the ferry. Our driver was waiting for us at the ferry terminal in Salelologa and drove us for nearly two hours to our accommodation in Asau Bay.
Along the way we saw beautifully coloured houses, open fales, churches, coconut trees, tidy gardens, beaches and bush.
We stayed at the beautiful Vaimoana Seaside Lodge where they have 3 kayaks, free for the guests to use. Despite only arriving that day, we couldn't help ourselves, so, we took to the water in a double kayak just before dinner to have a little explore of the area which would be our new home for 1 week.
At dinner, we were pleasantly surprised to find that a local band would play traditional chilled Samoan music ...
