Wells' 1990 short film The Talking Rain played at the 1991 Sundance Film Festival. He exhibited sections of his Vietnam-inspired film and digital media installation Fragrance of Ghosts at William Paterson University in 2007.
Samuel Martin Bailey Wells (born 24 April 1965) is an English priest of the Church of England. He is known for his preaching, work in Christian ethics, community organizing and public discourse on issues of faith. He is the current vicar of St Martin-in-the-Fields, a church in central London.
Ordained in 1991, he served Church of England parish appointments for 14 years in Newcastle, Cambridge and Norwich. He spent ten years of his ministry in areas of social disadvantage. For six years he was involved in establishing a community-led development trust, the first such organization in the east of England. He also established a non-profit organization offering disadvantaged children opportunities to participate in creative play.
Sam Wells (born 13 July 1984, at Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand) is a New Zealandcricketer who plays for Otago Volts in the Plunket Shield. He is a talented middle-order batsman and has been successful as a bowler in first-class cricket.
Career
Early career
Wells made his first-class debut for the Otago cricket team in the 2007–08 State Championship against Central Districts and made 20 runs in that match, batting at number eight. Wells became especially consistent as an allrounder, especially in first-class cricket, with maiden hundreds and five-wicket hauls. With the bat, his breakthrough season came in 2009-10, where he established himself with 478 runs from 7 matches inclusive of two centuries and three half-centuries. His consistency remained in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, where he scored three half-centuries each. Three half-centuries from four games and the same number of half-centuries from the same number of games the following season underlined his consistency. Unfortunately, he could not play much in the 2010-11 season as he was injured and that cut his season short.
Wells Crater is an impact crater in the Eridania quadrangle on Mars at 60.2°S and 237.9°W, and it is 103.0km in diameter. Its name was approved in 1973 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN), and it was named after H. G. Wells.
Wells is a surname of English origin, but is occasionally used as a given name too. It derives from occupation, location, and topography. The occupational name (i.e. "Wellman") derives from the person responsible for a village's spring. The locational name (i.e. "Well") derives from the pre-7th century waella ("spring"). The topographical name (i.e. "Attewell") derives from living near a spring. The oldest public record is found in 1177 in the county of Norfolk. Variations of Wells include Well, Welman, Welles, Wellman and Wellsman. At the time of the British Census of 1881Wells Surname at Forebears, its relative frequency was highest in Berkshire (3.2 times the British average), followed by Leicestershire, Oxfordshire, Kinross-shire, Huntingdonshire, Kent, Sussex, Lincolnshire, Dumfriesshire and Bedfordshire.
