Medicine shows were traveling truck, horse, and wagon teams which peddled "miracle cure" medications and other products between various entertainment acts. They developed from European mountebank shows and were common in the 19th century United States, especially in the Old West era (though they continued up to World War II). They are most commonly associated with "miracle elixirs" (sometimes referred to as snake oil), which, it was claimed, had the ability to cure any disease, smooth wrinkles, remove stains, prolong life or cure any number of common ailments. Most shows had their own patent medicine (these medicines were for the most part unpatented but took the name to sound official). Entertainment often included a freak show, a flea circus, musical acts, magic tricks, jokes, or storytelling. Each show was run by a man posing as a doctor who drew the crowd with a monologue. The entertainers, such as acrobats, musclemen, magicians, dancers, ventriloquists, exotic performers, and trick shots, kept the crowd around until the salesman sold his medicine.
Old Crow Medicine Show, or sometimes known as O.C.M.S., is the first studio album released by the acoustic quintet, Old Crow Medicine Show. Songs include obscure traditional tunes and original compositions by group members. The album features their signature tune, "Wagon Wheel", written by frontman Ketch Secor using a Bob Dylan chorus. The album was produced by David Rawlings. Gillian Welch makes a cameo on drums.

Wagon Wheel - Old Crow Medicine Show (cover by Sally)
Okay, for starters I'd just like to say that this wasn't exactly a planned video... I actually just found this today, my brother's girlfriend took this video of me last August while I was rehearsing for our local folk festival. I asked her if we could maybe shoot some new videos today because I haven't uploaded anything in ages, and she told me that she already had one!
Anyways, I've been getting a few comments lately asking for new videos, so here you are. It isn't edited or anything, so no fancy intro or words, but I hope you enjoy it anyways. It's one of my favourite songs, and it reminds me of Rothermere house (my residence) because we sing it there quite frequently.
Thanks for watching! :)
(hopefully I'll get some newer ones up soon)
And yes, I'm aware that I look kind of sill...
