Sidney Robert "Bob" Blair, CC (13 August 1929 – 18 April 2009) was a Canadian engineer and businessman.
Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, where his father Sidney Blair was managing an oil refinery, the young Sidney Robert Blair would be educated in various settings then begin his studies at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario at age 16. In 1951, he graduated from there in chemical engineering. He worked across North America in the construction and gas operations and in 1969 became President and Chief Executive Officer of NOVA Corporation.
Blair has three sons and two daughters from his marriage to Lois which ended in divorce by the early 1970s.
He was Canada's Commissioner General at Expo 2000.
In 1980 he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada and was promoted to Companion in 1985.
Blair died at North Vancouver's Lions Gate Hospital on 18 April 2009. His last residence was in North Vancouver.
In 2004 Blair incorporated precision farming equipment to his operation to reduce costs, increase productivity, and to reduce environmental impact. In 2006 Blair added a UAV to his farming operation and started a company based around these technologies. Blair's efforts with precision agriculture and UAVs has led him to be an expert on UAV use for agriculture and to speak at agriculture functions in the United States.
Blair played basketball at Kendrick High School winning the 1985 Idaho A4 championship still holding two tournament team records and at Lapwai High School winning the 1987 A3 Idaho championship and belonging to the longest basketball winning streak in Idaho history at 81 games.
Blair currently resides on the family farm and serves as an executive board member for the Idaho Grain Producers Association and is an Idaho Farm Bureau Federation county president.
On 16 December 2010 Badminton England and Badminton Scotland announced that Blair would be returning to Scotland. The reason(s) for Blair's return to Scotland remain unclear, but reports suggest a falling-out with members of the Badminton England setup was central to the decision.
