The song's lyrics establish a threatening tone towards the singer's unnamed girlfriend (referred to throughout the song as "little girl"), claiming "I'd rather see you dead, little girl, than to be with another man." The line was taken from an early Elvis Presley song, "Baby, Let's Play House" (written by Arthur Gunter). Lennon designated this song as his "least favourite Beatles song" in a 1973 interview and later said it was the song he most regretted writing. He also stated that the song was one of George Harrison's favourite songs on Rubber Soul at that time, despite Lennon's dislike of it.
Lennon would revisit this theme in a more apologetic fashion with his post-Beatles song "Jealous Guy".
"Run for Your Life" is a song by the British singer-songwriter Matt Cardle. It was released on 9 October 2011 as the lead single from his first studio album, Letters (2011). The song was written and produced by Gary Barlow, and was the last song that Cardle recorded for the album. It reached number 6 on the UK Singles Chart.
Background
"Run for Your Life" was written by the Take That frontman Gary Barlow after he took over the role of head judge on The X Factor, of which Cardle won the seventh series. During an interview with The Sun, Cardle discussed the track. "I'm really, really happy to have had Gary Barlow write a song for me. We had 90% of the album written, and then really late in the process, Gary sent the song through. I really related to it. I've been in that position many times, you know, that the song is talking about. It's about not being good enough for the person you're with and not being able to give enough, I was nearly in tears recording the vocals. I've actually been trying to write that kind of song for a long time – it's putting yourself down in a clever way. Gary nailed it, and then he let me have a go at singing it, I couldn't pass it up, so I'm really happy about that."
Run for Your Life is the second full-length album by Burlington, Ontario's The Creepshow released by Stomp Records. The album was released on August 22, 2008 in Compact Disc format and as a translucent green vinyl LP. The band's previous album Sell Your Soul was released by Stereo Dynamite Records. It was reissued in North America on October 5, 2009 on Hellcat Records upon the band's signing to the label.
The album features ten tracks, nine of which are original songs. The first track, "The Sermon II", is a spoken word introduction by organ player The Reverend McGinty in a Vincent Price-inspired voice. "The Sermon" (part one) was the first track of the band's previous album.
Night on the Sun is an EP by alternative rockbandModest Mouse, released in 1999 as a Japan-only album, and again in 2000 as a 12" vinyl in the US and UK . The tracks on the Japan's Rebel Beat Factory label were taken from The Moon & Antarctica demos that were sent to Epic Records. The four tracks on 12" ended up on 2001s Everywhere and His Nasty Parlour Tricks. Extra percussion on I Came As A Rat (Long Walk Off A Short Dock) was provided by Ben Massarella and bass on You're the Good Things was played by Ben Blankenship .
Reception
Pitchfork Media compared the EP favorably to the works of The Velvet Underground, noting that the recording contained both characteristics of their earlier work as well as the musical direction taken after their major-label debut album, The Moon & Antarctica

During the recording of "For Your Life" at Musicland Studios, Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant was convalescing from a car accident which he had sustained in Greece the previous year, and he delivered his vocal performance from a wheelchair. The song's vocals are notable in part because of the snorting sound heard around 5:30, with the lyrics: "With the fine lines of the crystal payin' through your nose". Plant later explained the song's venom was due in part to his observations of the excessive amount of cocaine which had now pervaded and ruined the music scene in Los Angeles, during his stay on the West Coast prior to recording. The lyrics, written by Plant, indicated that one part of the song also had to do with an unnamed female acquaintance of his who got drawn into the Los Angeles drug scene, to whom he wags a finger and says "watch it."
Jimmy Page used his 1962 Lake Placid blue Fender Stratocaster for the first time on this track, which was supplied to him by Gene Parsons. Evidence of its usage is clearly present as Page executes numerous "dive bombs" on the instrument's tremolo arm. He would later use it with his band The Firm.
