Roman Dzindzichashvili's 14-move win with the Cordel Gambit
Featured is the game between Karen Grigorian and Roman Dzindzichashvili from the 1969 URS-ch sf Rostov-on-Don Tournament. Dzindzichashvili’s reply to the Ruy Lopez is the Classical variation with Bc5. After Grigorian’s c3, play sharpens immediately with f5, the Cordel Gambit. This is a nice simple example right out of the opening of not reacting to your opponent’s threats, but instead generating a stronger threat of your own. After only 14 moves, the strength of Dzindzichashvili’s bishop pair would be on full display and already force his opponent’s resignation.

New lines in the best chess opening for Black against 1.e4: the Accelerated Dragon – GM Roman Dzindzichashvili.
Just because you’ve got the Black pieces, it doesn’t mean you have to passively play for equality for the first 20 moves. Choose one of the best chess openings for Black, chess openings that give you attacking counterplay from the first moves.
In this video, Roman Dzindzichashvili points out some opening novelties in the best chess opening for Black against 1.e4: the Sicilian Defense, Accelerated Dragon variation.
Roman “Dzindzi” talks about the main of the Accelerated Dragon with 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 g6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Bg7 5.Be3 Nf6 6.Nc3 Nc6 7.Bc4.
White has developed well, getting all 4 minor pieces to central squares while maintaining a powerful pawn on e4. Black stands well too, 3 minor pieces well positioned and ready to castle.
Still, Black has one “problem”: developing his light-squared bishop. In the Accelerated Dragon variation of the Sicilian Defense, Black leaves out …d6 in the hope of playing d7-d5 in one move later on.
So what does Black do? Castle? Move the b or d-pawn to allow the bishop to move? Exchange knights on d4 first? None of these. Black plays …Qa5! taking advantage of the loose positioning of White’s pieces and setting up a pin against the c3 knight.
Already, it’s very easy for White to go wrong in a surprisingly quick way. If White tries to break the pin with the natural 8.Nb3, .Qb4! maintains the pin, attacks the unprotected c4 bishop and x-rays the e4 pawn. Now, moves like 9.Qd3 and 9.Bd3 lose material and Black has a great game.
GM Roman Dzindzichashvili shows how Black can use some sneaky, clever moves at their disposal to free their position rapidly, all the while setting mini-traps for White to fall into.
This is a great video for anyone looking to master the Sicilian Defense, Accelerated Dragon variation, the best chess opening for Black against 1.e4!

Learn how to play every opening in chess!
In the video "Encyclopedia of Chess Openings Vol 1" by GM Roman Dzindzichashvili, we are treated to a series of videos that cover all of the essential openings in chess.
They are termed "essential" because they are openings that make sense. This does not include moves such as 1.h3 because this is a bad opening. Each opening is covered on a basic level, just enough for you to understand the major positions, structures and plans for both sides.
Throughout the video, Roman shares one meaningful opening line for White and one for Black in every single reasonable chess opening. He does this, so that you can get a good recommendation for every opening and are not left in the dark at all.
What are the opening moves and lines that Roman recommends to be played for White and Black? How can following his recommendation give you a strong position at the beginning of the game? Watch the video to find out

In the video "Easy Way to Beat The Pirc Modern Defense" by GM Roman Dzindzichashvili, we see a way to set-up our pieces when Black plays the Pirc Modern Defense. With this set-up, we achieve a strong position that has many ways to cause Black problems. Even if Black plays solidly and doesn't make any mistakes, White is able to get a small but clear advantage with the piece set-up that we are shown.
The set-up for this opening starts with e4, d4, Nf3, Nc3, h3 and Be3. Playing in this way allows for both a positional and tactical style of play. This is a very good situation for openings, because it allows the specific player to customize the opening to whichever playing style he prefers.
In what ways can White play both tactically and positionally? How does he achieve a strong, centralized position in many of the variations? Watch the video to find out!

In the video “Understanding & Dominating your Chess Game with Pawn Structures” by GM Roman Dzindzichashvili, we are taught about a few different types of pawn structures and how they influence the course of the game. He speaks about how we need to be good with positional ideas, because they are very important when dealing with the many different types of pawn structures that we will see during our own games.
Roman first talks about the isolated central pawn and how it is the most common type of pawn structure. He describes it as the most difficult position to play, but also the most important position to understand. After looking at the isolated central pawn, Roman then switches to talking about the doubled pawn and the c5/d5 pawn structures.
What are the plans and ideas with each of these pawn structures? How can we use these plans effectively to improve our positions? Watch the video to find out!

In the video “Maximize Your Success against 1.b4, c4, d4″ by GM Roman Dzindzichashvili, we take a look at the Bird's Opening, which starts off the game with 1. f4. It is an interesting opening that reminds people of a Dutch Defense, but with the White color instead of Black.
The Bird's Opening allows White to get an unusual type of position that doesn’t require them to study much theory, but can have good chances to attack quickly during the game.
Immediately from the starting move of the game, White is fighting for control of the e5 square. He will soon follow up with Nf3, and seek to increase his control of the center. This opening can be a powerful weapon against opponents who are used to main theoretical lines, but do not know what to do outside of those main types of positions.
How can White throw his opponent off with this radical opening? What moves can White make in order to start a quick attack or gain even greater control of the center? Watch the video to find out!

In the video “Blitz as a Tool to Better Chess & Secrets in Beating Your Chess Computer” by GM Roman Dzindzichashvili, he starts off by showing an online blitz game that Garry Kasparov played. This game shows how to play with intuition and quick maneuvering, which are two things that are very important in blitz.
Roman talks about how the player with more experience and better intuition will be able to play a maneuvering blitz game much better than a lesser player.
Throughout the game, Roman shows how Kasparov did a great job maneuvering his pieces in a position where he had a slight advantage. This advantage was able to grow much more powerful as the game continued, and eventually Kasparov had a winning position. We also hear explanations and great tips on how to improve when playing blitz, so we can win more games.
How can we get better at the maneuvering game? What tips does Roman share with us on how to get better at blitz? Watch the video to find out!
