Timelapse of Every Catholic Diocese in History
This video shows the history of the Catholic Church, for every year since 30 AD.
It shows the spread of the Church through the saints (in yellow).
The presence of the Church is highlighted through the dioceses, which are either of the Western Rite (in red) or the Eastern Rite (in pink).
The lighter color in each case represents the minor sees of the respective rite.
The liturgical rite assigned to a diocese is the one in use at the time the video was made, or the last one used. For this reason, the table showing the occurrence of the various rites is not necessarily completely accurate for each year.
The data for the saints and dioceses is sourced from Gcatholic.org.

THE LEGEND OF THE PINEAPPLE
Homily for Wednesday of the 1st Wk of Lent,
01 Mar 2023, Lk 11:29-32
Once there was a little boy who pestered his mother each time he needed something and was too lazy to look for it himself. “Mom, where are my shoes?” “Mom, can you find my school bag?” “Mom, where are the crayons that I bought yesterday? I need them for my project.”
The mother got so tired of her son’s laziness, she forgot that an enchanted woman had earlier granted her the power of casting an irreversible spell on people through her words, whether in the form of a blessing or a curse. She said to her son, “May you grow a hundred eyes around your body so that you will not need to pester me each time you’re looking for something.”
The boy disappeared after that and the mother realized that her words may have come true. The following day, she came down to the garden and found among her vegetables a pineapple plant with a ripe fruit on it. When she harvested the fruit, she peeled off its skin with a knife, only to find a hundred little dots that looked like eyes peering at her.
Today’s Gospel reminds me of that myth. Jesus is lamenting about the present generation. He says in Luke 11:29, “This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah.” All they needed to do was to look at Jesus and the works that he was doing. As he prophet Ezekiel once lamented about the people of Judah in Ezek 12:2 “…they have eyes to see, but do not see, and ears to hear but do not hear. They are such a rebellious house!”
There is another passage where Jesus said something in reply to the disciples whom John the Baptist had sent to ask if Jesus was indeed the one who was to come or if John had made a mistake, so that he could look for another. Jesus’ answer in that passage was actually meant, not for John but for John’s disciples. He said, “Go and tell John what YOU HEAR and WHAT YOU SEE.” (Lk 7:22)
It was Jesus’ way of telling them that he would understand why John would ask such a question. Having been in prison for some time, he had not had the opportunity to witness the works of Jesus, namely, “the blind see, the deaf hear, the lame walk, the dead are raised to life, the lepers are cleansed and the poor have the good news preached to them.” (Lk 7:22)
These disciples had seen and heard the things that Jesus was doing. Did they ever report these to John? No. What they reported instead were intrigues about Jesus eating and drinking with tax-collectors and sinners. (Lk 7:24) It’s like they looked at a doughnut and saw only the hole in the middle.
And what did Jesus mean when he said “no sign will be given them but the sign of Jonah?” (Lk 11:29) Jonah did not even give any sign. In fact he even rushed up his proclamation because he preferred to see them remain stubborn so that God’s punishment would fall upon them. But to his great surprise, the people of Nineveh took his word, believed his message, fasted and repented of their sins, and God forgave them. (Jonah 3)
When we fail to see something that is already right there before our eyes, we have a saying in Tagalog that goes, “Kung ahas lang iyan, natuklaw ka na.” (If that were a snake before you, you would have been bitten already.)
Today, let our prayer come from that famous line in Psalm 95: “Today if you hear the voice of the Lord, harden not your hearts.”

At an elevation of over 2,700m, Eldoret is a prime location for runners. If they can perform at this altitude where there is less oxygen, they can then truly thrive when running closer to sea level.

300 residents conned over a billion shillings in Eldoret
Hundreds of residents of Eldoret town in Uasin Gishu County have been left helpless and counting painful investment losses running into millions of shillings after a man who claimed to be an online trading guru blinded them by promising quick riches. The investor, now wanted by the police, established an online trading company named Springmak Investment Limited in Eldoret town in 2019. After enticing residents with the promise of substantial returns, the investor vanished as abruptly as he appeared, leaving many in financial distress. Ben Kirui with that story.

Eldoret is a principal town in the Rift Valley region of Kenya and serves as the capital of Uasin Gishu County. The town was referred to by white settlers as Farm 64,64 and colloquially by locals as 'Sisibo'. As per the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census Eldoret is the fifth most populated urban area in the country after Kenya's 4 cities of Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and Nakuru. Lying south of the Cherangani Hills.
The population was 289,380 in the 2009 Census, and it is currently the fastest growing town in Kenya with 475,716 people according to 2019 National Census. Eldoret was on course to be named Kenya's fourth city, but was edged out by Nakuru in 2021

History
Eldoret and the plateau around it had been occupied by the Sirikwa for several centuries prior to the era of Maasai ascendancy.Innovation in weaponry was introduced by the Maasai era of the late 18th and 19th centuries. With new weapons and forms of governance, they swept down from their original homelands in the north, closer to Lake Turkana, down to their present homelands south of Kenya. The Maasai clan that took over the Plateau were known as the Ilwasin Kishu, after whom it is presently named.
In August 1908, fifty-eight families of displaced Afrikaners left Nakuru for the Uasin Gishu plateau after a journey from South Africa by sea and by rail from Mombasa. .
Eldoret was established in the midst of the farms they created on what was known to the settlers as "Farm 64", "64" or "Sisibo" to the locals because at that time it was 103 kilometres (64 mi) from the newly built Uganda Railway railhead at Kibigori.
The official town site started in 1910 with the development of a Post Office at "Sisibo".
The Uganda Railway extension, from Kibigori toward Uganda, reached Eldoret in 1924, starting a new era of prosperity and growth. In 1928, a piped water supply from the Sosiani River was installed. In 1933, the East African Power and Lighting Company installed an electricity generator plant.
In the 1950s the town was literally divided into two, along the main street (now Uganda Road), with the Afrikaans on the north and the British on the south. The former took their children to Highland School, (now Moi Girls High School)and the latter, to Hill School.Recreation was also along the divide – 'Brits' used the Lincoln Hotel and the Race-Course near the now "Chinese Area" while the Afrikaans converged at the Wagon Wheel for recreation.Daniel Arap Moi was born in the neighboring Baringo District, and under his presidency, the town was developed further.
William Ruto the current President of the Republic of Kenya was born in Kamagut Ward of Turbo Constituency that straddles Eldoret town. He has previously represented Eldoret North Constituency in parliament.

We finally made it to Eldoret, the city of champions located in the Western part of Kenya. This city is known for all the famous long distance runners who were born and who trained there like the current World record holder for the fastest marathon, Eliud Kipchoge. At an elevation of over 2,700m, Eldoret is a prime location for runners. If they can perform at this altitude where there is less oxygen, they can then truly thrive when running closer to sea level.

Our trip started at Naiberi River Campsite and Resort where we stayed inside the Bill Gates room for two night. This place is fully in nature, and they have a really interesting restaurant that looks like a typical Rainforest Café. If you know, you know!

When in a new city, there is no better way to explore then with a local and this is why we hired Emmanuel on the spot to take us around. From the waterfall (Koromosho Falls) to ziplining at Tiret Resort and watching some brave guys diving 20m down into a Great Rift Valley trench, that day was nothing less than epic.

But exploring a new place would never be the same without trying the local food and in Eldoret those are mursik and nyama chome. For the choma, I have to say, it was probably the best one we have had in Kenya since we arrived tree years ago and the mursik was... Unique.
