Roger Meddows Taylor (born 26 July 1949) is an English musician, multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. He is best known as the drummer of the rock band Queen, but has also served as songwriter and occasional lead vocalist. As a drummer, he was recognised early in his career for his unique sound. He has since been acclaimed by Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins as one of the most influential rock drummers of the 1970s and 1980s, as well as being voted by radio listeners as the eighth-greatest drummer in classic rock music history in a poll conducted by Planet Rock in 2005.
Roger Andrew Taylor (born 26 April 1960) is an English musician, best known as the drummer of the rock band Duran Duran from their inception until 1985, and again from 2001 onwards, the band selling in excess of 70 million records in the process.
Early life
Roger Andrew Taylor was born into a modest family and was brought up in the Shard End area of Birmingham up until the age of 11, and then a small suburban house in Castle Bromwich (15 Hawthorne Rd). His father worked in the car industry. He began drumming at around the age of 12, teaching himself by playing along with his favourite records. His first ambition was to be a goalkeeper for English football club Aston Villa, and as a child he was taken to every home match by his father. He would eventually "play" at Villa Park but as Duran Duran's drummer for their 1983 charity concert there. Taylor has cited drummers Paul Thompson of Roxy Music, Charlie Watts of The Rolling Stones and Tony Thompson of Chic as his key musical influences growing up.
There are legendary bands…and then there’s Queen. 300 million record sales and an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame later, it’s safe to say drummer Roger Taylor contributed heavily to the iconic stadium sound that defined the ’70s and ’80s.
He co-wrote some of Queen’s biggest hits, contributed vocal harmonies, and pursued a solo career as a singer-songwriter. Watch this video to get the full story on why Roger Taylor is one of drumming's geniuses.

Roger Taylor's backing vocals (A compilation)
I don't think people often give enough credit to Roger as a singer. He had a more consistant singing technique than Freddie, and therefore often sings the high notes for Freddie in live performances, and sometimes even takes up the lead vocals. Not to mention, his raspy singing voice is incredible, and it perfectly harmonized with Freddie's whenever they sang together

PREVIEW (Full version coming soon)
This track was originally recorded by Queen + Paul Rodgers and released on the 2006 album "The Cosmos Rocks."
