Triple blow 'massive vote of no confidence in Prime Minister' - Sir Roger Gale
Conservative Sir Roger Gale has said the loss of two key by-elections and resignation of Oliver Downden is a "massive vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister".
The MP for North Thanet said Boris Johnson had "trashed" key Conservative values.
Sir Roger said there were "a lot of problems ahead" and a "change of leader" was needed to "take them forward in the right direction".

"Under other circumstances, I would be saying that he has broken the law that he set, and not only that, he's misled the House of Commons. And that, therefore, yes, he should resign," said Conservative MP Sir Roger Gale on Times Radio Breakfast.
Speaking to Ayesha Hazarika and Aasmah Mir, Conservative MP for North Thanet Sir Roger Gale said: "But we don't live in normal circumstances at the moment. I appreciate that this is wildly unpopular... But we are in the middle of an international crisis.
"If we were to do that, I think history would not forgive us. It's a luxury that we simply cannot afford at the moment. I think that time will come. And I hope very much actually that Mr. Johnson, when the time comes, will put himself forward for leadership challenge so that he instigates himself...

Conservative MP Sir Roger Gale says if "things get markedly worse for the PM he will resign", adding the Deputy PM could "lead a wartime cabinet" until it's "sensibly possible to have an election".
He also said Boris Johnson's address to Tory backbenchers was a "pantomime performance" after earlier apologising to the Commons for breaking lockdown rules by attending a Downing Street party.

The Monitoring Committee concluded that Italy is globally fulfilling its membership obligations to the Council of Europe and, overall, its democratic institutions function in line with the standards of the Council of Europe. However, a number of concerns were raised in particular related to the implementation of the migration policy, and recommendations were made in that respect, that deserve the prompt attention of the authorities.
