Robert, or RoBERT (born Myriam Roulet in Paris on 14 October 1964), is a French singer, composer and lyricist.
An independent artist and songwriter, Robert's musical style is described as fairy-like, halfway between the tragic and the gothic, sometimes with a pinch of absurdity. Themes of death, childhood, and love regularly appear in her songs, marked by her crystalline, often fragile opera voice and the baroque (and sometimes electronic) music. Often compared to Mylène Farmer, Barbara or Marie Laforêt, she has found artistic success in France and Belgium, but also in Japan, despite a certain media absence. Robert's live shows are often full of hypnotic, giddy, often joyful or even dramatic performances.
Early career
Before becoming a singer, Robert pursued a career as a classical ballet dancer studying in the Opéra National de Paris, until a bone decalcification forced her to abandon her dream when she was only a teenager. After a short involvement in the field of acting, she began to dedicate herself to music. Since then, she has collaborated mainly with her husband Mathieu Saladin, musician and often co-compositor.
Singer was born in New York City on October 29, 1947. He grew up in New York attending public schools there. From 1966 to 1972, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. He married the former Caryl Lynn Russo and has four children. He is a resident of Lakewood Township.
Robert Singer is Vice President of Corporate Relations, Community/Kimball Medical Center.
Political career
Before entering New Jersey's Senate, Singer served in the lower house of the New Jersey Legislature, the General Assembly for two stints, once from 1986 to 1990 serving the Ocean County-based 10th district, and again from 1992 through 1993 in the 30th district which now stretched from Burlington County through Monmouth and Ocean counties. He sought re-election to his Assembly seat in 1989 but was defeated by incumbent Democrat John Paul Doyle and former Democratic Assemblywoman Marlene Lynch Ford (the latter of whom Singer defeated in the 1985 and 1987 elections). In The Assembly, Singer was the Majority Whip from 1992 to 1993. Senator Singer had served on the Lakewood Township Committee since 1981, and was its Mayor in 1983, from 1985 to 1986, 1994, and again in 2009 until retiring in 2010. He has been on the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council Board of Directors since 2001 and from 1996 to 1999 and the Lakewood Municipal Utility Authority since 1999 as Chair. He has served since 1999 on the Ocean County Board of Health as its Vice Chair. Singer serves on the Board of Trustees of Georgian Court University in Lakewood and is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council.
Robert Singer (born in 1956 in Chernivtsi, Ukraine) is a Jewish organizational leader and former Israeli government official. Since May 2013, Singer has served as the chief executive officer and executive-vice president of the World Jewish Congress, the most senior professional of the international Jewish NGO.
Education and personal life
Singer moved to Israel from Ukraine with his family at the age of 15. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Tel Aviv University in 1976. In 1996, he was awarded a Master of Science in Management Engineering from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Between 2005 and 2008, he completed several executive management courses at Harvard Business School and Columbia Business School. Singer is married to Anna and they have twin daughters.
Asked in an article published in the magazine Jewish life about what motivated him he once said that given that he had been born into a family of refuseniks in Ukraine he was encapsulated by an "unrelenting desire to assist Jews and gentiles with economic and educational development, enabling them to find a way out of the most dire of circumstances." Singer added: "Moving to Israel with my family at the age of 15 was the initial catalyst for me being motivated to invest myself wholeheartedly in helping to develop projects for educational and economic development in Israel and the Jewish community worldwide.”
"To get political, I think given the state of where we are in reality today, a good, spooky supernatural show might be what we all need on a Tuesday."
"We're not bound by a continuing alien threat or a continuing anything. It's whatever goes bump in the night and is spooky, so that gives us a really broad canvas."

https://www.ibiology.org/biophysics/rna-localization
Robert Singer’s lab has developed specialized techniques that allow them to visualize RNA localization of a single mRNA molecule from birth to death in living cells.
In this series of lectures, Dr. Robert Singer explains how it is possible to follow a single mRNA molecule from its birth to its death. Singer begins by explaining that cell cultures are heterogeneous and analyzing single cells provides spatial and temporal information not available from bulk analysis. He outlines how his lab developed techniques such as fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) that have allowed them to measure gene expression in single cells. Using these techniques, they discovered that some RNAs localize to specific areas in the cell and RNA localizati...

Using these techniques, they discovered that some RNAs localize to specific areas in the cell and RNA localization is linked to its regulation and function. For example, ß-actin mRNA localization to the leading edge of fibroblasts aids in cell motility. Singer’s lab identified “zip code” regions in mRNAs that are responsible for regulating mRNA localization.
To understand the relationship between RNA localization and translation, it is necessary to visualize the movement of the RNA in real time. In his second lecture, Singer explains how his lab found an ingenious way to label RNAs in live cells and follow their movement. In the nucleus, RNA moves by diffusion and stochastically finds a nuclear pore to exit. In the cytoplasm, however, it is a different story. RNA, in a translationally repressed state, undergoes directed movement along the cytoskeleton. Once it reaches its destination, translation is activated. Singer’s lab showed that neuronal stimulation leads to ß-actin mRNA localization to dendritic spines, followed by translation, and stabilization of the synapse; events that are crucial for memory and learning.
In his last lecture, Singer continues the story of the life and death of RNA. His lab has developed several more fluorescence microscopy techniques that let them study, in real time, the translation and degradation of mRNA. These techniques allow them to track when and where translation begins, how quickly a ribosome binds to a mRNA once it has reached its destination, how long the ribosome stays bound and how rapidly it adds amino acids to a growing protein chain. In addition, these techniques can be used to unveil the dynamics of RNA degradation. In an interesting twist, it turns out that for mRNAs that must be degraded during the cell cycle, their fate is decided at the time of their birth.
Speaker Biography:
Robert Singer is a professor at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Departments of Anatomy and Structural Biology, Cell Biology, and Neuroscience, and co-director of the Gruss Lipper Biophotonics Center. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Janelia Research Campus of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Singer’s career has focused on the cell biology of RNA. His lab has developed techniques that allow them to visualize and follow individual RNA molecules, in fixed and live cells, throughout the life of the RNA molecule. The information gained from these techniques may help scientists to understand processes such as cancer metastasis or neurological disease.
Singer received his undergraduate degree in physical chemistry from Oberlin College and his PhD in developmental biology from Brandeis University. He was a postdoctoral fellow at MIT and at the Weizmann Institute.
In recognition of his many contributions to RNA research and techniques of single molecule imaging, Singer has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy for Arts and Sciences, and the Association for the Advancement of Science. Singer holds 12 patents on his work.
