Danny Thomas (born Amos Muzyad Yakhoob Kairouz; January 6, 1912– February 6, 1991) was an American nightclub comedian, singer and television and film actor and producer, whose career spanned five decades. He had also appeared as a guest on several talk and variety shows.
One of 10 children, Danny Thomas was born as Amos Muzyad Yakhoob Kairouz on January 6, 1912, in Deerfield, Michigan, to Charles Yakhoob Kairouz and his wife Margaret Taouk. His parents were Maronite Catholic immigrants from Lebanon. Kairouz and Taouk are two prominent families from Bsharri. Thomas was raised in Toledo, Ohio, attending St. Francis de Sales Church (Roman Catholic), Woodward High School, and finally the University of Toledo, where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Thomas was confirmed in the Catholic Church by the bishop of Toledo, Samuel Stritch. Stritch, a native of Tennessee, was a lifelong spiritual advisor for Thomas, and advised him to locate the St. Jude Hospital in Memphis. He married Rose Marie Cassaniti in 1936, a week after his 24th birthday.
Danny Thomas, born in 1948 in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, was the second drummer for the 13th Floor Elevators. Danny played drums and sang back up vocals on the final two studio albums, Easter Everywhere and Bull of the Woods. In an interview in 2001, when Danny was asked when he had quit the band, his reply was "I never quit".
Danny Thomas left the 13th Floor Elevators in 1968 and was hired as drummer for Delta blues guitarist Sam "Lightnin'" Hopkins to perform and record with Hopkins the album Free Form Patterns.
After leaving Texas and returning to North Carolina he played from 1970-1997 with the following bands: Lou Curry Band, Dogmeat, and Bessie Mae's Dream with Gene Norman, Rich Carlson, Marcus Cheek, and Jerry Shaver. During this time, he owned his own delivery company called Gophers Inc. Prior to that he worked in accounting at Carolinas Medical Center (formerly Charlotte Memorial Hospital).
A vegetarian and humanitarian, he retired, but had many hobbies including buying and selling antiques and gardening. He retired to Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife, Juanette. He had three children, two daughters, Christina Thomas and Tiffany Thomas Johnson, and an adopted son, Jason Vincent Brock.
Daniel Joseph (Danny) Thomas (born 12 November 1961 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England) is a former professional footballer most notable for helping Tottenham Hotspur win the 1984 UEFA Cup, despite missing his penalty in the shootout in the final against Anderlecht.
Club career
Thomas made his debut for Coventry City during the 1979-80 season, making 3 appearances during that season. Over the next three seasons he was a regular for the first team. In June 1983 he was transferred to Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £250,000. He made his Tottenham league debut on 27 August 1983 in a 3-1 defeat at Ipswich Town. He collected a UEFA Cup winner's medal at the end of the 1983-84 season and would go on to make a total of 87 league appearances for the White Hart Lane club, scoring once, before suffering a knee injury in 1987. He retired the following year, having failed to recover from the injury.
Danny Justin Thomas (born 1 May 1981) is an English footballer who most recently played for FH as a Left-Back.
Career
Born in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, between 1995 and 1997 Thomas attended Lilleshall National School for gifted footballers after being offered a 2-year scholarship. During his time at Lilleshall Thomas was playing with the likes of Scott Parker and Francis Jeffers, whilst the academic year above hosted the likes of Michael Owen and Wes Brown. He started his career as a trainee at Nottingham Forest and later Leicester City, and made his first team debut against Newcastle United in December 1999. February 2002 saw him move on to Bournemouth. During his time with The Cherries he was a first team regular in the side that won promotion to Division Two. However he featured only infrequently the following season where he played a match for Notts County reserves, and eventually joined Boston United in March 2004. He scored a spectacular free kick on his debut for the Pilgrims. In the 2004–05 season he started 40 matches, scoring 6 goals.
Thomas began his career as a trainee with Cardiff City, turning professional in July 2004. After impressing in the reserve side he was handed his league debut on 19 November 2004 when he was brought on as a second-half substitute for Chris Barker in the 1-0 defeat at home to Preston North End. He played in the FAW Premier Cup defeat to Bangor City later in the season but it would be his last appearance for Cardiff and he was released in May 2005.
He joined Carmarthen Town in July 2005 and since become a prolific goalscorer, scoring his 50th league goal for the side on 28 November 2009 during a 3-1 win over Bala Town. In June 2010, Thomas moved to local rivals Haverfordwest County.
