STUNNING aurora during Kp6 solar storm
In September of 2024 we got to witness a stunning aurora during a Kp6 solar storm. Recorded just 20 minutes outside of Reykjavík. Aurora chasing requires a lot of knowledge of real-time data and its correct interpretation, and with a bit of local knowledge and some good weather forecasting app, you can make the most of solar wind and solar storm conditions whilst traveling in Iceland.
Kp6 conditions require strong solar wind speeds, density and IMF magnetic conditions in order to bring enough energy to the table to push the aurora oval to its max.
