Hill of Stake | The Tallest Peak in Renfrewshire
This walk sees Douglas summiting the tallest peak in Renfrewshire - Hill of Stake. With travel options still limited, it's been a case of scouring maps to see what walks are within the limits. Fortunately the town of Lochwinnoch, the starting point for this walk, was just within 5 miles of the East Renfrewshire boundary.
This walk offers a great sense of remoteness, something Douglas had been longing for recently.

The Tallest Peak in East Renfrewshire | Corse Hill, Whitelee Windfarm
Due to present restrictions my options for a hike were somewhat limited. Alistair and I had previously talked about doing the tallest peak on each of the major Scottish islands at some point, so I thought perhaps doing the tallest peak in my local council would be a reasonable enough choice.
That meant heading to Corse Hill, which now resides within Whitelee Windfarm - the largest onshore wind farm in the UK.
It's a fairly straightforward walk, with not much in the way of ascent, so certainly a good choice if you're after an easier option.

ZeXplorers: The Craigie Walk, East Renfrewshire
Duncarnock Hill, or the Craigie, is a prominent landmark a kilometre south
of Balgray Reservoir and is 204m (670 feet) high. The Craigie is all that
remains of an ancient 340 million year old volcano. It is known as a volcanic
plug and is made up of the hard basalt that cooled and ‘plugged’ a vent in
the volcano.
The remains of an Iron Age fort, dating from more than 2,000 years ago,
can be found on top of the Craigie.
Furthermore Mary, Queen of Scots supposedly enjoyed the remarkable view from the top.

Renfrewshire Restored is a project from Renfrewshire Leisure which looks at historical film from Renfrewshire. These are the 16mm films which were sourced from the Paisley Museum and Heritage Centre. They start in the 1930s and carry on through World War II. They feature post-war life and end with scenes from the 1970s.
