Rate of natural increase
In demographics, the rate of natural increase is the crude birth rate minus the crude death rate of a population. When looking at countries, it gives an idea of what position in the Demographic Transition Model, but to find out how much a country is growing, the population growth rate should be observed.
Usually developing countries have a positive or high natural increase rate. Developed countries have a negative/neutral or low natural increase rate, but many developed countries have their population increasing due to immigration despite their negative RNI.

How Populations Grow and Change: Crash Course Geography #33
Is the world overpopulated or underpopulated? While we worry about there being too many people for the planet to support, we can also worry about how fewer people in a given place may affect the economy, what may happen when there are more elderly people who need care than there are healthcare workers, or even be concerned about how many people are necessary to carry on other aspects of culture. Today, we'll discuss Malthusian and Boserup predictions on the planet's carrying capacity and take a close look at a popular demography tool geographers use to predict population change: the Demographic Transition Model or DTM.

There are a number of ways to quantify population dynamics:
CRUDE BIRTH RATE is the number births per thousand people per year.
CRUDE DEATH RATE is the number of deaths per person per year.
NATURAL INCREASE RATE is the percentage increase in population per year.
DOUBLING TIME is the time in years it takes for the population to double in size.
TOTAL FERTILITY RATE is the average number of births a woman in that population will have over her lifetime
Replacement fertility (the TFR needed to maintain a constant population size) is theoretically 2, meaning each woman will (on average) give birth to two children and thus replace herself and her partner in the population. In reality, replacement fertility is slightly higher than this to account of infant mortality.
