Author & Journalist
Graham Hancock is a maverick explorer and author whose work has carved a unique niche in the realm of alternative history and consciousness exploration. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Hancock has spent decades challenging mainstream narratives and delving into the mysteries that lie at the intersection of ancient civilizations, spirituality, and human consciousness.
In this milestone London Real interview, watch as Graham explains his views that “we are a species with amnesia” as well as discussing the academic response to his work and why he decided to write his latest book, “Magicians Of The Gods”.
Hancock’s intellectual journey began with a fascination for ancient cultures and the profound questions surrounding human existence. His early experiences, including extensive travel and exposure to diverse cultures, laid the foundation for a worldview that transcended conventional boundaries.
In the 1970s, Hancock embarked on a career in journalism, contributing to esteemed publications such as The Economist and serving as the East Africa correspondent for The Guardian. His journalistic pursuits equipped him with the skills to investigate, question, and communicate, a skill set that would prove invaluable in his later endeavours.
Graham Hancock burst onto the alternative history scene with the publication of his seminal work, “Fingerprints of the Gods,” in 1995. In this thought-provoking tome, he presented a radical reinterpretation of human history, proposing the existence of an advanced civilization predating the known ancient cultures. Hancock questioned the conventional timeline of human development, pointing to archaeological anomalies and megalithic structures as potential evidence of a lost and highly sophisticated society.
The book was met with both enthusiasm and scepticism, but its impact on the public’s perception of history was undeniable. Hancock’s ability to articulate complex ideas with clarity and conviction resonated with readers seeking a fresh perspective on the mysteries of our past.
Beyond the exploration of ancient civilizations, Graham Hancock’s journey extended into the realms of mysticism, spirituality, and consciousness. His interest in altered states of awareness and shamanic traditions led him to experiment with psychoactive substances, particularly Ayahuasca, a plant-based brew used in traditional Amazonian ceremonies.
Hancock documented his personal experiences and insights gained from these explorations in works like “Supernatural” (2005), where he examined the role of altered states in shaping human spirituality and the evolution of consciousness. Rather than merely advocating for psychedelic use, Hancock emphasised the importance of approaching these substances with respect and intention, viewing them as tools for personal and spiritual growth.

Building The Great Pyramid of Giza | Lost Treasures Of Egypt | National Geographic UK
The Great Pyramid of Giza is the largest pyramid ever built and is a staple of Egyptian pyramid architecture. It was built to protect the tomb of King Khufu and was the first-ever true pyramid, due to its perfect shape and extraordinary features. The entrance of the tomb is located 24 feet off centre and even if trespassers found it, a pulley system of ropes 130 feet above the passage dropped 3 enormous granite slabs to seal the burial chamber entrance.
Topped with a layer of white limestone, The Great Pyramid was and is a symbol of the Pharaoh’s reputation and respect. Now, explorers are eagerly searching the pyramid for clues about the life and death of the great King Khufu.

How did they build the Great Pyramid of Giza? - Soraya Field Fiorio
Explore how the ancient Egyptians built the Great Pyramid, a tomb created for Pharaoh Khufu which took over 20 years to complete.
--
As soon as Pharaoh Khufu ascended the throne circa 2575 BCE, work on his eternal resting place began. The structure’s architect, Hemiunu, determined he would need 20 years to finish the royal tomb. But what he could not predict was that this monument would remain the world’s tallest manmade structure for over 3,800 years. Soraya Field Fiorio digs into the construction of the Great Pyramid.

Watch This Teen Illegally Climb Egypt's Great Pyramid
A German tourist illegally scaled Egypt's great pyramid of Giza, in broad daylight. Armed with a Go-Pro 18-year-old Andrej Ciesielski climbed nearly 500 feet to the top of the pyramid. Climbing the pyramid comes at a steep cost, a possible three year jail sentence if convicted. About halfway up he was spotted by Egyptian police. When he descended the pyramid he was taken into custody. Authorities made him delete his photos but they were unaware he could recover the files. #InsideEdition

The Pyramids of Egypt - How & Why They Were Built - Full Documentary
https://www.youtube.com/user/PioneerProductionsUK ...Built during a time when Egypt was one of the richest and most powerful civilizations in the world, the pyramids—especially the Great Pyramids of Giza—are some of the most magnificent man-made structures in history. Their massive scale reflects the unique role that the pharaoh, or king, played in ancient Egyptian society. Though pyramids were built from the beginning of the Old Kingdom to the close of the Ptolemaic period in the fourth century A.D., the peak of pyramid building began with the late third dynasty and continued until roughly the sixth (c. 2325 B.C.). More than 4,000 years later, the Egyptian pyramids still retain much of their majesty, providing a glimpse into the country’s rich and glorious past.

A True Mystery in the Great Pyramid Complex: The Neben Pyramide | Ancient Architects
Whilst I’m studying the Giza plateau, I thought I’d take a short break from my research to present something I’ve come across, as many of you may never have heard of it before – and it’s directly related to the Great Pyramid of Egypt.
There is a structure, well a substructure, cut into the bedrock, near the southeastern corner of the Great Pyramid, and it has been referred to as the Neben Pyramide, which I believe means ‘secondary pyramid’ in German.
Now, this is only a short video because, quite frankly, there is next to no information available, no video footage, and no photographs as far as I can see, and so I’m left with little to show of it except a few old diagrams.
But that doesn't make this substructure any less interesting or mysterious and so, in this video, I'll give you all ...

Standing guard over the pyramids is the Great Sphinx, a colossal statue with the body of a lion and the head of a human, believed to represent the Pharaoh Khafre. Carved from a single piece of limestone, it is one of the most recognizable and enigmatic symbols of ancient Egypt.
Visiting the Pyramids of Giza is a truly awe-inspiring experience that transports you back in time to the age of the pharaohs. Their monumental scale, architectural precision, and enduring grandeur continue to fascinate visitors and scholars alike, making them a testament to the ingenuity and ambition of the ancient Egyptian civilization.

Initially standing at 146.5 meters (481 feet), the Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world for more than 3,800 years. Over time, most of the smooth white limestone casing was removed, which lowered the pyramid's height to the present 138.5 meters (454.4 ft). What is seen today is the underlying core structure. The base was measured to be about 230.3 meters (755.6 ft) square, giving a volume of roughly 2.6 million cubic meters (92 million cubic feet), which includes an internal hillock. The dimensions of the pyramid were 280 royal cubits (146.7 m; 481.4 ft) high, a base length of 440 cubits (230.6 m; 756.4 ft), with a seked of 5.5 palms (a slope of 51°50'40").
The Great Pyramid was built by quarrying an estimated 2.3 million large blocks weighing 6 million tonnes in total. The majority of stones are not uniform in size or shape and are only roughly dressed. The outside layers were bound together by mortar. Primarily local limestone from the Giza Plateau was used. Other blocks were imported by boat down the Nile: White limestone from Tura for the casing, and granite blocks from Aswan, weighing up to 80 tonnes, for the King's Chamber structure.
There are three known chambers inside the Great Pyramid. The lowest was cut into the bedrock, upon which the pyramid was built, but remained unfinished. The so-called Queen's Chamber and King's Chamber, that contains a granite sarcophagus, are higher up, within the pyramid structure. Khufu's vizier, Hemiunu (also called Hemon), is believed by some to be the architect of the Great Pyramid. Many varying scientific and alternative hypotheses attempt to explain the exact construction techniques.
The funerary complex around the pyramid consisted of two mortuary temples connected by a causeway (one close to the pyramid and one near the Nile), tombs for the immediate family and court of Khufu, including three smaller pyramids for Khufu's wives, an even smaller "satellite pyramid" and five buried solar barges.

The Great Pyramid of Giza (also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of Cheops) is the oldest and largest of the pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex bordering present-day Giza in Greater Cairo, Egypt. It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one to remain largely intact. Egyptologists conclude that the pyramid was built as a tomb for the Fourth Dynasty Egyptian pharaoh Khufu and estimate that it was built in the 26th century BC during a period of around 27 years.

In this vlog, we travel to Egypt to explore the last remaining site of the "seven wonders of the ancient world", the Giza Pyramids! When we step onto the Giza Plateau, we are awestruck by the size and magnitude of the pyramids and the mythical Great Sphinx. Our guide is an Egyptologist and gives us a guided tour of one of the greatest testaments to human achievement.
The pyramids were built nearly 5,000 years ago for the great kings of ancient Egypt. So many questions come to mind when we visit the pyramids - how were they built, who built them, and what was inside the chambers? Some of the answers we may never know....

Soraya Field Fiorio digs into the construction of the Great Pyramid.

https://www.youtube.com/user/PioneerProductionsUK ...Built during a time when Egypt was one of the richest and most powerful civilizations in the world, the pyramids—especially the Great Pyramids of Giza—are some of the most magnificent man-made structures in history.
During the third and fourth dynasties of the Old Kingdom, Egypt enjoyed tremendous economic prosperity and stability. Kings held a unique position in Egyptian society. Somewhere in between human and divine, they were believed to have been chosen by the gods to serve as mediators between them and the people on earth. Because of this, it was in everyone’s interest to keep the king’s majesty intact even after his death, when he was believed to become Osiris, god of the dead. The new pharaoh, in turn, became Horus, the falcon-god who served as protector of the sun-god, Ra.
The pyramid's smooth, angled sides symbolized the rays of the sun and were designed to help the king's soul ascend to heaven and join the gods, particularly the sun god Ra.
Ancient Egyptians believed that when the king died, part of his spirit (known as “ka”) remained with his body. To properly care for his spirit, the corpse was mummified, and everything the king would need in the afterlife was buried with him, including gold vessels, food, furniture and other offerings. The pyramids became the focus of a cult of the dead king that was supposed to continue well after his death. Their riches would provide not only for him, but also for the relatives, officials and priests who were buried near him.
No pyramids are more celebrated than the Great Pyramids of Giza, located on a plateau on the west bank of the Nile River, on the outskirts of modern-day Cairo. The oldest and largest of the three pyramids at Giza, known as the Great Pyramid, is the only surviving structure out of the famed seven wonders of the ancient world. It was built for Khufu (Cheops, in Greek), Sneferu’s successor and the second of the eight kings of the fourth dynasty. Though Khufu reigned for 23 years (2589-2566 B.C.), relatively little is known of his reign beyond the grandeur of his pyramid. The sides of the pyramid’s base average 755.75 feet (230 meters), and its original height was 481.4 feet (147 meters), making it the largest pyramid in the world. Three small pyramids built for Khufu’s queens are lined up next to the Great Pyramid, and a tomb was found nearby containing the empty sarcophagus of his mother, Queen Hetepheres. Like other pyramids, Khufu’s is surrounded by rows of mastabas, where relatives or officials of the king were buried to accompany and support him in the afterlife.

But that doesn't make this substructure any less interesting or mysterious and so, in this video, I'll give you all of the information available, as well as the possible explanations as to what the 'Nebenpyramide' structure could have been.
