In the Third part measure 50 Collegium Vocale sings a false relation. The Tenor sings a cadential figure where they therefore sharpen the B flat - A flat - B flat motive to B natural - A natural - B natural. The Altus, however, sings a B flat which clashes with the B natural in the Tenor.
This phenomenon (false relation) is not very common in Lassus, unlike in English music of the 16th century or by earlier composers of the Franco-Flemish school (e.g. Gombert, Clemens non Papa etc.) .
Prolongati sunt dies mei in servitio tuo, Domine,
et utraque tibi fortuna servientem probasti me
quia viderunt oculi mei te salvum in regno tuo

My days have been prolonged in your service, O Lord,
And you have tested me, your servant, by both good and bad fortune,
And by the sweat of my brow have you recognised my travails and my fidelity.
My bones are grown old, daily they await the pains of death,
That I may give an account of my stewardship before the face of the Redeemer
Who suffered for us and washed away our sins on the wood of the Cross.
If it is permitted to say thus: now let your servant depart in peace,
For my eyes have seen you safe in your kingdom,
And victorious in all wars,
In that blessed glory
wherein you live eternally before the face of all peoples.

Vidi calumnias quae sub sole geruntur
et lacrimas innocentium et consolatorem neminem
nec posse resistere eorum violentiae cunctorum auxilio destitutos.
Rursum contemplatus sum omnes labores hominum,
=== ENGLISH ===
I saw the oppressions that are done under the sun,
and the tears of the innocent, and they had no comforter;
and they were not able to resist their violence, being destitute of help from any.
And I praised the dead rather than the living:
and I judged him happier than them both, that is not yet born,
nor hath seen the evils that are done under the sun.
Again I considered all the labours of men,
and I remarked that their industries are exposed to the envy of their neighbour:
so in this also there is vanity, and fruitless care.
=== MAGYAR ===
