The Sigma baryons are a family of subatomichadron particles which have a +2, +1 or −1 elementary charge or are neutral. They are baryons containing three quarks: two up and/or down quarks, and one third quark, which can be either a strange (symbols Σ+, Σ0, Σ−), a charm (symbols Σ++ c, Σ+ c, Σ0 c), a bottom (symbols Σ+ b, Σ0 b, Σ− b) or a top (symbols Σ++ t, Σ+ t, Σ0 t) quark. However, the top Sigmas are not expected to be observed as the Standard Model predicts the mean lifetime of top quarks to be roughly 6975500000000000000♠5×10−25s. This is about 20 times shorter than the timescale for strong interactions, and therefore it does not form hadrons.

In mythology and literature, a quest, a journey towards a goal, serves as a plot device and (frequently) as a symbol. Quests appear in the folklore of every nation and also figure prominently in non-national cultures. In literature, the objects of quests require great exertion on the part of the hero, and the overcoming of many obstacles, typically including much travel. The aspect of travel also allows the storyteller to showcase exotic locations and cultures (an objective of the narrator, not of the character).
Quest objects
The hero normally aims to obtain something or someone by the quest, and with this object to return home. The object can be something new, that fulfills a lack in his life, or something that was stolen away from him or someone with authority to dispatch him.
Sometimes the hero has no desire to return; Sir Galahad's quest for the Holy Grail is to find it, not return with it. A return may, indeed, be impossible: Aeneas quests for a homeland, having lost Troy at the beginning of Virgil's Aeneid, and he does not return to Troy to re-found it but settles in Italy (to become an ancestor of the Romans).
Quest is an award-winning monthly popular science magazine published in Diemen, Netherlands.
History and profile
Quest was launched in February 2004. The magazine is part of Gruner + Jahr and is published by G+J Uitgevers on a monthly basis.
The headquarters of the magazine is in Diemen. The magazine features articles on science and technology with a special reference to nature, health, psychology and history. Target audience of the magazine is people between 20 and 49 years of age. The monthly has several special supplements, Quest Psychologie, Quest Historie, Quest Image and Quest 101.
Karlijn van Overbeek served as the editor-in-chief of the magazine until her death in 2010. Then Thomas Hendriks was appointed to the post.
The magazine is also distributed in Belgium. In 2011 the English version of Quest was launched by Gruner + Jahr in South Africa with the same name. The magazine is published on a bimonthly basis there.
Quest has won the Mercur Magazine Award several times since its start in 2004. The magazine received the award in 2004, in 2007 and in 2009. It was named as the Launch of the Year 2004 and the Magazine of the Year for 2010.
