What is quantum tunnelling? On this explainer, Neil deGrasse Tyson and comic co-host Chuck Nice dive into quantum physics, thermonuclear fusion, and when quantum particles start misbehaving.
What is the least energy to get to the other side of a hill? A little hint: the answer isn’t “Running Up That Hill.” Learn about wave functions, potential barriers, and quantum wedding crashing. What would it take to merge two hydrogen atoms to make helium? We get into electromagnetic repulsion, thermonuclear fusion, and what temperature you would need to get the hydrogen atoms in order to get them to join. How do stars get these atoms to join? What percent of atom collisions will tunnel? Plus, would we exist without quantum tunnelling?

Quantum 101 Episode 9: Quantum Tunneling Explained
This video discusses the concept of quantum tunneling, and how this phenomenon only works because particles can act like waves.
The fastest baseball pitch ever thrown reached over 170 kilometers an hour. That's impressive. But even that record breaking fastball would never be able to pass through a solid brick wall.
It's just not possible. That is, unless we're playing quantum baseball.
A thrown baseball might have enough energy to rip through a piece of paper, but even the fastest pitch would just bounce off a brick wall.
Yet sometimes quantum particles are caught passing through barriers they don't seem to have enough energy to break through.
Logically, they should just bounce off. And yet there they are, sitting quite happily on the other side. How can that be possible?

How to Make a Quantum Tunnel In Real Life
In this experiment I show you to perform quantum tunneling. I first explain what quantum tunneling actually is, then I show you how to make it happen. I talk about total internal reflection and how light can bounce off boundary layers and then how light can actually tunnel through it.

The Quantum Barrier Potential Part 1: Quantum Tunneling
Now that we've covered the particle in a box, we are familiar with the concept of a quantum problem. Let's move on to our second quantum problem, that of the quantum barrier potential. With this one, we don't have an infinite square well containing a particle, we have a free particle that encounters a barrier of finite potential. This is a good model for an electron that encounters a defect in a wire. How do we know if the electron will be able to traverse this barrier? As it turns out, even if the energy of the electron is less than the barrier potential, it may still be able to be transmitted due to a phenomenon called quantum tunneling. This is pretty weird, but entirely rooted in sound mathematics, so let's go over the math and learn more about this freaky concept!

This video discusses the concept of quantum tunneling, and how this phenomenon only works because particles can act like waves.
The fastest baseball pitch ever thrown reached over 170 kilometers an hour. That's impressive. But even that record breaking fastball would never be able to pass through a solid brick wall.

How can that be possible?

https://wn.com/The_Quantum_Barrier_Potential_Part_1_Quantum_Tunneling

Paradoxically, the most promising prospects for moving matter around faster than light may be to put a metaphorical brick wall in its way. New efforts in quantum tunneling - both theory and experiment - show that superluminal motion may be possible, while still managing to avoid the paradox of superluminal signaling.Paradoxically, the most promising prospects for moving matter around faster than light may be to put a metaphorical brick wall in its way.
