Julian Frederick Gordon 'Pye' Hastings (born 21 January 1947 in Tomnavoulin, Banffshire, Scotland) is a British musician. He is the guitarist and vocalist of the Canterbury scene band Caravan and brother of Jimmy Hastings.
The 1941 census had been postponed due to World War II, so the 1946 electoral redistribution had to take ten years of population growth and movements into account. The North Island gained a further two electorates from the South Island due to faster population growth. The abolition of the country quota through the Electoral Amendment Act, 1945 reduced the number and increased the size of rural electorates. None of the existing electorates remained unchanged, 27 electorates were abolished, eight former electorates were re-established, and 19 electorates were created for the first time, including Hastings. The towns of Hastings and Havelock North have always been located within the electorate until the 1987 electoral redistribution, whereas the nearby Fernhill was always included in the adjacent Hawke's Bay electorate.
1950-1955: The County Borough of Hastings, the Municipal Borough of Rye, and in the Rural District of Battle the civil parishes of Ashburnham, Battle, Beckley, Bodiam, Brede, Brightling, Broomhill, Catsfield, Crowhurst, Dallington, East Guldeford, Ewhurst, Fairlight, Guestling, Icklesham, Iden, Mountfield, Northiam, Ore, Peasmarsh, Penhurst, Pett, Playden, Rye Foreign, Salehurst, Sedlescombe, St Thomas the Apostle Winchelsea, Udimore, Westfield, and Whatlington.
Hastings was the Indiaman Northington, that Simon Fraser purchased in 1780 when the EIC was done with it, and renamed. She was of 676 or 69356⁄94 tons (bm), 99 men, and 26 guns, when as Hastings she made one voyage for the EIC to St Helena and China between 1781 and 1783; she was present at the Battle of Porto Praya. In 1783 she was sold for breaking up.
Hastings was a brig of 170 tons (bm) that the Bombay Dockyard launched in 1787 for the Bengal Pilot Service. In 1818 or 1820 the EIC sold her to local buyers. A fire in April 1823 destroyed her at Pulau Pasang, off Padang.
The frigate Hastings, of 566 tons (bm) was launched on 2 May 1821 by the Bombay Dockyard, but not commissioned until the eve of the first Anglo-Burmese war, in which she served. She was pierced for 32 guns but mounted 24. By 1838 she was at Bombay, serving as a receiving ship.

ACT launches bid for Tukituki electorate
ACT has recently released its party list of fifty-five, including the nephew of party founder Roger Douglas as the candidate for Tukituki.
As reported by Hawke’s Bay App last month, ACT convenor and property valuer Rob Douglas, the nephew of Roger Douglas, the ACT founder and architect of Rogernomics, will contest the Tukituki seat.
He is at number 16 on the party list and is in with a slight chance of getting into Parliament, In May, Newshub-Reid Research poll gave ACT 14 seats, while the most recent Taxpayers' Union Curia poll gave ACT 17, which would mean Douglas would be off to Wellington.
The party will also field candidates in Napier and Wairarapa, which stretches up through Tararua and a large section of Central Hawke’s Bay.
