Zadar (Croatian pronunciation:[zâdar]; see other names) is a city in Croatia, situated on the Adriatic Sea. It is the centre of Zadar County and the wider northern Dalmatian region. In the last official census of 2011 the population of Zadar was 75,082, making it the fifth largest city in the country. Zadar is a historical centre of Dalmatia as well as the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Zadar: it has a rich history dating from prehistoric times.
Etymology and historical names
The name of the city of Zadar emerged as Iadera and Iader in ancient times, but the origin of the name is older. It was most probably related to a hydrographical term, coined by an ancient Mediterranean people and their Pre-Indo-European language. They transmitted it to later settlers, the Liburnians. The name of the Liburnian settlement was first mentioned by a Greek inscription from Pharos (Stari grad) on the island of Hvar in 384 BC, where the citizens of Zadar were noted as Ίαδασινοί (Iadasinoi). According to the Greek source Periplus of Pseudo-Scylax the city was Ίδασσα (Idassa), probably a Greek transcription of the original Liburnian expression.
The film was released in 1989 and shown in select theaters, mostly located in eastern Iowa. In a two night theatrical run, the film grossed over $25,000. It also premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
The film was written by and cast with members of the Duck's Breath Mystery Theater, a successful comic acting troupe. The idea was originally introduced Merle Kessler, who was inspired by "Zarda", a dairy in Kansas City, that had a statue of a giant cow. The film was shot in and around Iowa City, Tipton, Solon and Mount Vernon, Iowa.
The plot of the movie revolves around a struggling Hollywood director who wished to return to his home state of Iowa and create a successful horror film. However, upon arriving in Iowa, the young director (played by Merle Kessler) is immediately distracted by old friends and family, a problem which will plague him throughout the making of his film, Zadar! Cow from Hell.

Ryanair plane clips another plane while taxiing at Dublin Airport
Originally published on 01 April, 2015
Two Ryanair planes clipped wings while taxiing at Dublin Airport Wednesday morning.
One plane was bound for Edinburgh, and the other was waiting to depart for Brussels enroute to Zadar, Croatia. The winglet on one of the Boeing 737s clipped the tail fin of the other.
“Both aircraft were under the instruction of Dublin airport air traffic control at the time,” Ryanair said in a statement.
Both flights, RR812 to Edinburgh and FR7312 to Zadar, were delayed, but no one was injured. The budget airline had a similar accident at the same airport last October.

KTM 1090 Adventure R from Squamish to Indian Arm BC
Riding from Squamish to Indian Arm and Wigwam Inn on my 1090. This road has had some major washouts cleared in 2019 allowing access all the way through to Indian Arm for the first time since I got my 1090. The road is easy with just enough hills and creeks to keep things interesting! There are a few faster section with watermelon size rocks poking out of the road surface. I managed to hit one on the way out and had to put the tube into my front wheel to get home.

President Nikolic and nine others, including four of his advisors, were in a government jet flying to a meeting with Pope Francis last Friday at 9 a.m. Midway through the flight, one of the plane’s three engines stopped working at an altitude of 10,058 metres above the Adriatic Sea and the plane began to descend. The aircraft dropped 1,609 metres before the captain was able to regain control.
An investigation by the Civil Aviation Directorate found that the co-pilot spilled coffee in the cockpit during the flight. According to the report, as the co-pilot cleaned up the mess, he inadvertently activated the emergency slot extension in the cockpit. Once the emergency slot extension was activated, the automatic pilot turned off and caused the plane to lose altitude. The engine failed while the plane was losing altitude.
Once the captain regained control of the aircraft, the plane returned to Belgrade and President Nikolic had to postpone the meeting with the pope.
According to the New York Times, the co-pilot has been temporarily suspended from duty. The 34-year-old Dassault Falcon 50 has experienced several serious malfunctions in recent years though, and the presidential press office said that President Nikolic may no longer use the aging jet.
