Why did the world let India annex Goa? (Short Animated Documentary)
In 1961 the Indian army marched into Portuguese Goa and after two days of fighting formally annexed it into the country. Given that the world largely believed that conquering foreign lands hadn't been cool since the end of the WW2 why was it allowed to stand? Why did the world let India annex Goa? To find out why watch this short and simple animated history documentary.

Forging an Empire - The Portuguese Empire - Part 1 Exploration
Portugal forged a massive trading empire. It was an incredible achievement for a small country that had a very modest population. In this first part, we review the initial stages where Portuguese sailors and explorers launched themselves into the unknown and took the first steps at exploring. Men like Prince Henry the Navigator who set the ball in motion, Bartholomeu Dias who was the first to round the tip of Africa, and Vasco da Gama who was the first European to find a sea passage to India.

That Time the Portuguese Brought an Inquisition to India | Goan History
In the mid-1500sCE, the Portuguese Empire established a Catholic inquisition in their Indian colony of Goa, imposing strict laws and punishments for the "heretical violations" of both native Indians and Portuguese settlers alike.
The Portuguese Inquisition in Goa remains a relatively unknown story, however.
The persecution hell created by the Portuguese not only oppressed the residents of Goa for nearly three hundred years, but also ocost them their trade advantage vis-a-vis other European powers.
This is the story of the Portuguese Inquisition in Goa. Hope you enjoy!

Here's What You Don't Know About Portuguese Conquest of India.
The Portuguese Crown aspired for a share of the Far Eastern spice trade throughout the whole 15th century. The Venetians had dominated this trade for generations, importing spices from their Middle Eastern trading partners, the Mamluks and Ottomans, including pepper, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, and cinnamon.
Vasco da Gama (c. 1469–1524) was chosen by Portuguese King Manuel I (r. 1495–1521) to find the route to the spices in 1497. Bartolomeu Dias (c. 1450–1500) discovered how to exploit the strong east winds of the mid-Atlantic to propel him and his crew around the Cape of Good Hope. Da Gama was to follow Dias' route to the Indian Ocean.

Chillis are not Indian! Are they foreign invaders? #indian #history #food #chilli
While India is renowned for its rich and diverse cuisine, many ingredients and dishes we associate with Indian food actually have foreign origins.
We'll explore the history of:
Chillis: Introduced by Spanish and Portuguese sailors, chillis have become a staple in Indian cooking, overshadowing the native black pepper.

GOA TAKE-OVER
(8 Jan 1962) When India finally took military action against Goa (which had been Portuguese for over 400 years), resistance was soon abandoned. Sikhs, arriving at Pangim (the capital) after the Portuguese surrender, received a hero's welcome from compatriots. The take-over had been virtually a walk-over, and tiny Goa was now added to the huge Republic of India.
