Port Hudson Historic Site - Trails in Louisiana Near Baton Rouge
My recent (8-25-17) hike of the Port Hudson Historic Site. One of the most unique trail systems in Louisiana, this site gained designation as a Historic Landmark in 1974. "The siege of Port Hudson began on May 23, 1863. Roughly 30,000 Union troops, were pitted against 6,800 Confederates. The ensuing battles constituted some of the bloodiest and most severe combat in the entire Civil War."
A moderately difficult 6 miles of out and back trails.
