Kevin Earl Federline (born March 21, 1978) is an American dancer, rapper, fashion model, and actor. His career began as a backup dancer; he later became known for a high-profile two-year marriage to American recording artist Britney Spears and the child custody battle that followed.
Life and career
Early life and career beginnings
Kevin Earl Federline was born on March 21, 1978, in Fresno, California, to parents Mike and Julie (née Story), a car mechanic and former bank teller from Oregon, respectively; his surname is of German origin. Federline's parents divorced when he was eight years old; then he moved to Carson City, Nevada, with his mother, but returned to Fresno when he was 11. At 11 he and his brother Chris moved to his father's house in Fresno. In the ninth grade, Federline dropped out of high school (later earning a certificate of General Educational Development) and began dancing with a nonprofit organization called Dance Empowerment. For a number of years, he served as a backup dancer for Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Destiny's Child, Pink, and LFO.
Playing with Fire is the debut and only studio album from American personality and rapper Kevin Federline, released on October 31, 2006 through Federation Records. The album's executive producer was Federline's then-wife Britney Spears, who also featured on a track on the album, and with whom Federline composed two tracks that did not make into the track listing. Contributions to the album's production came from a variety of producers and songwriters, including Bosko, J.R. Rotem, and Versatile. Playing with Fire was universally trashed by music critics, and is the lowest rated album on music review aggregator Metacritic.
The first single option, "PopoZão", was released on December 31, 2005. Produced by Disco D and co-composed by Spears, the song takes inspiration from Brazil's favela funk. The song was panned by critics, and the single release was canceled. "Lose Control" was released in October 2006 as the official lead single, and premiered with a performance at the 2006 Teen Choice Awards. Playing with Fire debuted at number 151 on the Billboard 200, with sales of 6,000 copies, and has sold over 16,000 copies in the United States according to Nielsen Soundscan.
"Playing with Fire" is a song by Romanian singer-songwriter Paula Seling and Romanian-born Norwegian singer-songwriter Ovidiu Cernăuţeanu as Ovi. The song was written by Ovidiu Cernăuţeanu under his writing-name Ovi Jacobsen and it was produced by himself and Norwegian producer Simen Eriksrud. Additional mixing was provided by Seling. The duo performed the song as the Romanian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 after winning the Selectia Nationala 2010 on March 6, 2010 at the Globus Circus, Bucharest. The song was selected from 16 participating songs at the Selecţia Naţională 2010. It gained the maximum number of points from both the juries and the televotes. This is only the third time both judges and voters have a common sense in Eurovision in Romania and the last time since 2006. The song passed the semi-final and qualified for the great final. They finished on the third place (second runner-up song) on May 27, 2010. Following Ovi and Seling's performance during the Eurovision final the song entered some major European charts, including the VG-lista or the UK Singles Chart. An accompanying music video was shot for the video in April, 2010 in Romania and in Vienna, Austria. It premiered in time for Easter and it managed to gather over 5 million views on YouTube as of 2012.

027 - Kevin Federline - Playing With Fire (2006) (with Aimee Hauthaway & Todd Wilcox)
On our 3rd episode of Jukebox Zeroes we reviewed "Results May Vary", the 4th studio release from nu-metal icons Limp Bizkit. The record was notable not just for its troubled production, its overall low quality, and for its critical failure, but also for the position it occupied as the lowest rated album on the entirety of review aggregate site Metacritic.
That is until 2006, when an even lower-rated album was released.
"Playing With Fire" was such an album, the lone full-length release from Kevin Federline, a professional dancer and paparazzi target who for a brief period of time was married to pop music icon Britney Spears. Wiki's Worst Albums #6 - K-FED PLAYS WITH FIRE, GETS BURNT
Having created endless content for the tabloids through his marriage to Britney Spears, Kevin Federline stepped into the booth proclaiming himself as "America's Most Hated". But most people perhaps didn't care about him enough to seriously hate him, as his album Playing with Fire was a dismal commercial failure, and doesn't seem to have gotten that much coverage in general.

Federline was eager to escape the media stigma of being nothing more than "Britney's gold-digging husband", and "Playing With Fire" was his attempt to cement himself as a legitimate musical artist. But between Federline's inept rapping and lyric-writing abilities, and the negative press narrative that had been firmly implanted, "Playing With Fire" was an abysmal critical and commerical failure, and is to this day the worst reviewed album on Metacritic, with a pathetic 15/100 score.
On this new episode of Jukebox Zeroes, Lilz and Patrick are joined by friends both old and new: returning guest Aimee Hauthaway, and new guest Todd Wilcox. Together they decide for themselves whether the unanimous criticism of "Playing With Fire" was justly deserved, if K-Fed simply got a raw deal, and ponder the mystery of the elusive Pancake Man.
