The Phillies began as the Philadelphia Athletic Club in 1901. The team was more commonly called throughout Philadelphia as the Philadelphia Professionals or the Philadelphia Pros. It was the region's first entirely professional football squad. Wilson Wright, a Penn graduate, was the team's manager and chief financial backer. The team, led by Penn's Blondy Wallace, was largely made up of former Penn players along with a few veterans of such teams as the Duquesne Country and Athletic Club and the Latrobe Athletic Association.
The Phillies have won two World Series championships (against the Kansas City Royals in 1980 and the Tampa Bay Rays in 2008) and seven National League pennants, the first of which came in 1915. The franchise has also experienced long periods of struggle. Since the first modern World Series was played in 1903, the Phillies played 77 consecutive seasons (and 97 seasons from the club's establishment) to win their first World Series—longer than any other of the 16 teams that made up the major leagues for the first half of the 20th century. The 77 season drought is the fourth longest World Series drought in Major League Baseball history. The longevity of the franchise and its history of adversity have earned it the dubious distinction of having lost the most games of any team in the history of American professional sports. Despite the team's lack of success historically, they are still one of the more successful franchises since the start of the Divisional Era in Major League Baseball. The Phillies won their division 11 times, which ranks 6th among all teams and 4th in the National League, including five consecutively from 2007 to 2011.
The 1980 Philadelphia Phillies season was a season in American baseball. The team finished with a regular-season record of 91 wins and 71 losses, which was good enough to regain the National League East title by just one game over the Montreal Expos. The Phillies went on to defeat the Houston Astros in the NLCS to gain their first NL title since 1950, then defeated the Kansas City Royals to win their first-ever World Series Championship, in the team's 98th season. The 1980 Phillies were known as "The Cardiac Kids" because of the many close games that were almost blown.
Off-season
December 13, 1978: Greg Gross was signed as a free agent by the team.
December 20, 1979: Jerry Willard was signed as an amateur free agent.
March 30, 1980: Dave Rader was traded by the Phillies to the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named later and cash. The Red Sox completed the deal by sending Stan Papi to the Phillies on May 12.
The 1976 Philadelphia Phillies season was the 94th season in the history of the franchise. The Phillies won their first National League East title, as they compiled a record of 101-61, nine games ahead of the second-place Pittsburgh Pirates.
The final 9-game margin masks how competitive the season actually was. In a scary echo of 1964, the Phillies saw a 151⁄2-game August lead dwindle to just 3 games as their offense dried up on two late-year road trips.
Andrew Beckett (Tom Hanks) is a Senior Associate at the largest corporate law firm in Philadelphia. Beckett hides his homosexuality and his status as an AIDS patient from the other members of the law firm. On the day Beckett is assigned the firm's newest and most important case, a partner in the firm notices a lesion on Beckett's forehead. Although Beckett attributes the lesion to a racquetball injury, it is actually due to Kaposi's Sarcoma, a form of cancer marked by multiple tumors on the lymph nodes and skin.
Philadelphia (usually called "Philadelphiamagazine" and often incorrectly written as "Philadelphia Magazine" or referred to by the nickname "Phillymag") is a regional monthly magazine published in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by the Lipson family of Philadelphia and its company, Metrocorp.
One of the oldest magazines of its kind, it was first published in 1908 by the Trades League of Philadelphia. S. Arthur Lipson bought the paper in 1946.

Brawl at Phillies Brewers Game April 22, 2022 Section 421
The 2 guys were not sitting in their own seats (they actually were the big dudes seats) and all game up until this point they were giving anyone a hard time for just wanting to pass by and were looking for a fight because every time someone would eventually get by they would start running their mouths, well, they found one and were taken away in cuffs, I’m sure the fireball they snuck into the stadium and were pounding all game had something to do with it.
And for those who keep commenting about getting an usher, THE USHER WAS STANDING THERE JUST OFF CAMERA WATCHING THE WHOLE THING!
