He was AFC Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1971, All-NFL in 1975 and 1976, and All-AFC from 1972-1976. Phil also played in four Pro Bowls and was a member of the Oakland RaidersSuper Bowl XI winning team. One of the fastest linebackers of his era, Phil specialized in making big plays - none bigger than his momentum changing goal-line tackle against the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl XI, where he forced the fumble that was recovered by Willie Hall.
Personal life
Phil is married to Susan and has three children; Andrea, Phil, and Michael. Michael is a quarterback at Brown University.

PHIL "FOO" VILLAPIANO | Raiders History
My tribute to #41 Phil Villapiano. 4 time pro bowler and a true Raiders Raider. Highly underrated and if not for a knee injury that caused him to miss all but 2 games of 1977, would have probably gone to a few more pro bowls. Played in Superbowl XI, and although his trade in 1980 commical yet sad, it did bring in WR Bob Chandler which helped the Raiders win Superbowl XV.
One of the absolute best story tellers as well for Raiders history, anything the Raiders ever did sounds at least 8 times cooler when Villapiano talks about it.
