Paul Gregg (born 1941 in Scarborough, North Yorkshire) is an English multi-millionaire businessman and entertainment impresario, who built Apollo Leisure Group into the UK's biggest theatre owner and largest independent family run cinema chain in the United Kingdom
After selling Apollo to SFX Group in 1999, and leaving new owners Clear Channel, he was a large stake holder in Everton F.C., before falling out with former friend Bill Kenwright in 2004, and selling his stake in October 2006 to Robert Earl.
Apollo Leisure Group
Paul Gregg's early career was in ABC cinema followed by a managing a Social Club at Cowley at the huge British Leyland site. Moving up north to Southport, Paul Gregg became the Director of Tourism and Attractions for Southport. During his time working for Sefton Council, the Southport Theatre Complex was built adjacent to the Floral Hall venue. This provided the town with 2 venues that went on to host some huge stars performing that had never before been seen in Southport. Following his departure from Sefton and a brief post with the Prince of Wales Hotel group, an opportunity came in 1977, aged 36, to purchase the Ardwick Theatre in Manchester – soon followed by the New Theatre in Oxford – and so Apollo Leisure had lift off, and gradually over the following years Apollo became the biggest theatre owners/management team in the United Kingdom.
Paul Gregg is Professor of Economic and Social Policy at the University of Bath and Senior Research Fellow in Labour Markets at the Centre for Economic Performance at the London School of Economics.
He is a programme director at the Centre for Market and Public Organisation at the University of Bristol covering Families, Children and Welfare, and former Professor of Economics at the University of Bristol, and Director of the Centre for the Analysis of Social Policy at the University of Bath.
He is a member of the Governing Board of the New UK Birth Cohort Study, and is affiliated to the Centre for Economic Performance at HM Treasury.
He has published widely on employment and household issues, and is joint editor of “The labour market in winter: the state of working Britain 2010” (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2011).
"So we have every reason to believe that he'll be with the team when he recovers from his foot injury, early in the season."
"I think it's incredibly sad at the moment that we are actually contemplating selling Wayne Rooney,"
"For us there are no boundaries as we seek to expand the Everton business and we believe that the opportunities for the club will only grow with the support of Chang Beer,"
"I can confirm to you that we've had no interest expressed by Manchester United. We hope that they can't afford Wayne Rooney and effectively that Wayne will stay with Everton."
"As far as Wayne Rooney's concerned, I am pleased to inform you that he reported for training at the start of the season on Monday,"

Designing a Safe Backyard Roller Coaster with Paul Gregg
Every now and then we come across homemade roller coasters designed by amateurs and built in their own backyards. While we appreciate the effort and creativity that goes into building one, most look poorly made and are of questionable safety. That is until we discovered Paul Gregg, a retired aerospace engineer who holds 29 US and foreign patents, two special invention awards, and was Boeing Aerospace Engineer of the Year in 1988. Paul uses his engineering skills to design and test his backyard roller coasters until he can prove they are reasonably safe to ride and operate, which I’m sure his grandchildren love! After selling Apollo to SFX Group in 1999, and leaving new owners Clear Channel, he was a large stake holder in Everton F.C., before falling out with former friend Bill Kenwright in 2004, and selling his stake in October 2006 to Robert Earl.
